Or as I like to call it, Arena. No, not “the arena” (the horrible “ranked” playlist in Reach). Arena because that is what classic Halo multiplayer used to be.
I’m very excited for Halo 4, and the new additions and improvements 343i are making all seem for the better, but my question is:
How much support is Arena Halo receiving? While I believe that it’s been confirmed that the classic experience will be included, I’m hoping that is goes beyond the way of the Reach treatment.
I guess I’m hoping that 343 will be dedicating as much effort to Arena Halo as they are Infinity.
Thoughts?
What classic Halo?
Halo with an overpowered pistol, 2 types of pick ups, fall damage, fast movement (basically CE)
or
Halo with dual wielding, a few pick ups, vehicle boarding etc? (Basically H2)
I mean, I get what you’re saying OP. But there is no such thing as “Classic Halo” as the two Halos you would consider classic (in the sense that they shaped the series, H2 arguably even more than CE) are like day and night in comparison…
That being said: 343i has said in the past that those who liked the more old skool Halo will get their treatment as well in H4. But that’s all we know.
So expect some playlists similar to Anniversary to be in H4 I guess.

No Sprint, no Loadouts, no “Perks”, no Armour Abilities, no Personal Ordnance (I know it’s in Infinity slayer)
I am almost 100% sure that there will be at least ONE “classic” (I prefer saying Barebones) playlist which removes AAs, Tactical/Support upgrades and along with them custom loadouts.

Classic halo as in an arena style shooter lol whats so hard to understand?
I’m assuming the game will be built with classic gametypes in mind.

I assume sprint will stay even in a classic playlist considering it is not something you have a choice to have or not.

Unless they really boost your walk speed and jump, sprint will need to stay.
I’m still really curious to what people who have played Halo 4 mean when they say sprint actually works. November 6th, I guess

Walk speed and jump height can be easily changed to match a H3 feel. I just don’t want to play a classic playlist with sprint because, well ya know, its not classic.
I haven’t played it yet either, but ill let you know what they mean on Nov 6th. XD

What’s hard to understand?
Well, that there is no “classic” Halo.
And that if they go for CE styled Halo you’d still get tons of complainers because they think H2 was better. And if you got the H2 route you piss off others.
And then you’d also get the H3 fanboys who think H3 is classic Halo.
All arena styled shooters, all play entirely different.
In other words: going back to “arena” styled gameplay is just as treacherous as doing something completely new. You’re always bound to piss off people. Your definition of arena styled, classic Halo is different than mine. And mine is different from another guy. So if you finetune something to your liking, others will still not like it and the whole situation is still the same as you have now with the changes made in H4.
