So What's the Trick to Shooting Through Walls?

Here is the perfect video why this happens!

Peace! :fist_right: :fist_left:

I don’t use wifi, I have a hardline

And what you’re failing to realize is that a lot of people experience all this stuff, on a daily basis.

I don’t know how you’re lucky enough NOT to, maybe its related to which servers you’re actually close to, which country you live in, which version of the game you play (I play the PC gamepass version for instance), etc. But its not rare occurrences.

Checked my internet speed just now and its 330 down 32 up, which is a little higher than normal so server traffic must be down right now. Its usually about 300 down 25 up

My mistake, by “Wi-Fi” I meant meant network in general.

Port forwarding works for both wireless and wired, and in many cases is game dependent on which ports are used.

Latency issues, lag, and “desync” yes, but not at the capacity you are, not by a long shot. The other non-personal examples you provided are mild compared to the frequency and symptoms you’re experiencing.

I’d be willing to wager based on interactions seen here I’m actually in a commonality of sorts, with other cases of mild desync in another commonality. Players who are experiencing normal conditions/infrequent cases of network issues aren’t going to be vocal, as there’s nothing much to voice concerns about (or at least offer affirmation of their experience in posts like this), whereas players who are getting frequent enough networking issues are going to be more vocal.

I’m not going to claim you’re in a minority here, but I sure haven’t seen 15 minute montages of clear extreme cases of observable packet loss experienced by a single person until you posted two. The frequency and extremity of your personal examples are overt outliers in the “desync” battle. The other examples you posted aren’t even in the same ballpark (if they are network issues to begin with) compared to what you are experiencing.

Internet speed tests aren’t indicators of packet loss. My issues were happening under consistently measured 60d/60u speeds. I had to dig deeper with other programs (like pingplotter) to diagnose my packet loss.

its probably because the game puts me on bad servers with people with terrible internet. My ping lingers around 30-40 average in matches, but its doing this kind of thing

Watched first link at 25%.
1st clip - player took 7 needler before getting behind tower, enemy never stopped firing, 8th needler hit on re-peak; kaboom. (normal death)
2nd clip - enemy lag compensation, aim assist, and shooter’s advantage meant the game gave you a trash extra shot of damage. (Shooter’s unfair Advantage 1)
3rd clip - unstable packet loss though without knowing your ISP jitter quality it may be server or may be you. (unstable 1)
4th clip - unstable packet loss though without knowing your ISP jitter quality it may be server or may be you. (unstable 2)
5th clip - enemy lag compensation, aim assist, and shooter’s advantage meant the game gave you a trash extra shot of damage. (Shooter’s unfair Advantage 2)
6th clip - I have to ask at this point do you have simulation cranked to highest setting? This is known to help with the visible desync. (desync 1)
7th clip - absolutely desync. (desync 2)
8th clip - you’re going to deny Halo it’s rediculous ragdoll physics?! That is part of the charm buddy. (nothing to see here)
9th clip - unstable packet loss though without knowing your ISP jitter quality it may be server or may be you. (unstable 3)
10th clip - Invincible spawner joining game, OR desync. Will still call desync (desync 3)
11th clip - unstable packet loss though without knowing your ISP jitter quality it may be server or may be you. (unstable 4)
12th clip - unstable packet loss though without knowing your ISP jitter quality it may be server or may be you. (unstable 5)
13th clip - I have absolutely no idea. you walked thru each other, but only 1 of 3 pistol shots worked. The melee was perhaps a whiff but after that, someone grenade+BR’d your guy although since you’re capturing at 30fps and uploading to YouTube valuable frames of info appear to be missing. Cannot comment on this one.
14th clip - I have to ask at this point do you have simulation cranked to highest setting? This is known to help with the visible desync. (desync 3)
15th clip - absolute BS melee. You should have won that :frowning: This is the classic "melee from inside the player. I wonder if this one was filmed before the changes made pre Season 2?
16th clip - your teammate did nothing to help. 1st shot hit three BR bullets, 2nd shot hit 1 BR bullet, you took a nade and 3 BR bullets to half shield, 4th shot you missed figuring he would jump out over challenge, you took 3 BR bullets while missing, you panicked and threw a grenade, he repeaked and hit you with final 3 BR bullets, you die (normal death)
17th clip, sword death without on screen lunge. I’ve actually pulled a few of these off myself. This needs looking into because hammer and sword are already so powerful they should not get unclean kills. (what do I call this - a feature?!)

Everything I’ve written out here is to try and help find a pattern for your issues. Some tech questions:
Are you on wifi, or copper to a basement (apartment?)
What is your download/upload and jitter quality on speedtest.net?

As an Australian with two server options, 10ms East Aus and 145ms West US, I never get anything like you are getting, even my occasional East US 200ms with permanently “unstable connection” is a consistent experience, not a spike-ridden experience. It sucks you’re experiencing it like this.

I capture at 60 fps, 1080p.

Yes I have simulation on Ultra

Current speedtest results say: 273.84 Download, 31.61 Upload, 37 ms ping, 11 ms jitter

In matches I tend to average about 40 ms ping. In btb its higher often, around 70-100 with high variance. But all this stuff happens on what appears to be good connections on my end. That leads me to believe it has something to do with the OTHER people’s connection, and some sort of compensatory manipulation they do to make the matches “fair”. Potato wifi gives xbox one players super powers etc.

yeah there is no better experience than LAN matches, shame the gaming community stopped massing together due to the success of online play :frowning:

EDIT: Also recommend running a quick test on

www.packetlosstest.com

Just set to Call of Duty testing and see if any packets are dropped

total packet loss 0.5% is that good?

lag or hax
20 charactersv

I want to tell you that <1% packet loss is fine, but if you’re consistently getting packet loss results on multiple testing sites, or from multiple different servers to test from, this would start to tell you a packet loss problem may be on your end. I remember times my Xbox One would have network issues in Halo 5, always fixed by restarting my router and device.

As an Australian on a wired connection, I have tested a lot of the options from google results “Jitter testing Australia” and many of them allowed me to set the duration of test to 60 seconds. I reliably returned 0% loss, <1ms jitter to QLD, SYD, MLB (some of our major cities), and then my www.azurespeed.com/Azure/Latency results are extremely stable (mostly flat lines on the chart over minutes of review).

Edit: and none of this is in many way meant to point the blame your way on the experience you’ve… experienced. This is just a potential issue that you may be in control of.

@M1STA_WU1FY

Do you have a friend that lives near by that you go over and log on using their PC or Xbox?

Play a few games and see what’s different.

That may give you some ideas about what to check when you come back home.

I promise it’s not my internet y’all. It’s not every game when this stuff happens, it has to be server or software related. Infinite is a broken game.

Heck, I could just have a glitchy copy of the game. I’ve had to uninstall and reinstall it a couple of times due to bad update issues so who knows

I think we can all agreed that we don’t want hackers be it on Console or Pc.
