We are all equal participants in giving and receiving on this crazy carnival ride called desync.
Whenever you just barely get that kill before someone ducks behind cover, there is a good chance they are frustrated they got hit through a wall from their perspective. There has only been a few times when I got a kill that was clearly hitting someone behind cover from my perspective.
I always play now with the intention that one more shot will hit me or hit my opponent when fleeing. Watching you kill someone through a wall is both exciting and frustrating because of the lack of connectivity this game has.
Sometimes in other games it appears as though you escaped a tough situation behind a wall, but in fact due to latency you may not be as safe as you think you are (or rather were) due to being visible on your opponents screen.
Desync was suggested (precedent for this), favor system (precedent for this), most players utilizing the ability to actually shoot through walls (maybe provide proof before standing by a claim?).
I mean, I can’t see them, they shoot a wall on screen, I die, and that’s not proof enough?
It could be desync, but it’s literally being shot through a wall in terms of how you have to react to the game. You can’t just dodge behind cover in this game because the game won’t let you.
How could anyone tell if people weren’t just cheating given how bad the system is that’s in place? It would be a breeze to simulate it if you’re a good hacker
Are both of you standing completely still and unmoving while shots penetrate through static objects?
Or
Are you peeking in and out of cover and/or running away from incoming fire, noticing your shields are going down intermittently while behind cover?
If it’s the former it’s definitely an exploit, if it’s the latter it can be expanded upon further by identifying the potential underlying mechanics contributing to the occurrence.
Then it’s just a further reason to delve into fixing the issues contributing to desync.
It can at least be explained using mechanics and rational thought if it was desync.
There are tells.
Just a few for example:
People aren’t commonly or even rarely getting domed across the map through multiple static objects, ergo, penetrating shots through corners as an exploit or hack is unlikely.
Latency is observable in real time and can be calculated or estimated if captured in real time to determine when shots are actually fired/hitting. A higher latency on either end can contribute to visual discrepancies and the illusion that shots are going through objects when the server is merely calculating actions based on time.
D-Sync however, this is not serious enough to work on or spend time re-Coding the game when 343 could spend time thinking of ways to extract money from the dwindling population for a nice colourful gun !!!
You’ve never been standing behind cover and just keep taking damage anyway? I’m sure I’ve got some clips saved of it, it happens pretty often. I’ll try and link them tonight
