So, whats the reason for the shotgun change then?

now i’m not good with the model numbers of weapons or anything like that, but we all noticed before CEA came out that the shotgun was the reach model.

it looks like the reach model, yet acts like the CE shotgun.

343i said that there was a reason it looks like this, and i remember reading a post by a mod that all would be explained when it came out.

but from what i’ve seen it hasn’t been explained. it cannot be the reach version no matter how you look at it, so why the change?

you telling me that the difference between the models is the red/blue sights and the blue band? that it?

i’m sorry if this looks like i’m raging or anything, but that really isn’t what i’m aiming to do, i just wanted to knwo what that reason is that we were promised.

It’s what the shotgun should have looked like back in 2001 if the developers had the creativity/technology to do it.

The Reach object models were used for Anniversary, therefore Anniversary’s shotgun looks like the Reach one. Nothing more to it.

Canon reason inbound!

The Spartans took all of the M90s for Operation Redflag, leaving the M45Es for the Marines.

Because 343 wanted to stay true to the art style that the rest of the trilogy established.

They used the Reach model of many things. Like the warthog, banshee, tank, shotgun, sniper, etc.

I don’t see what the problem is here.

Are you actually, legitimately confused by this? If you’ve followed 343i’s updates at all while they were in development with CEA, you’ve have heard/read at least one thing pertaining to how they built the game. They created brand-new graphics, and laid them on top of the original game engine from 2001. That’s why the shotgun acts the same, and that’s why the Back button switches between classic graphics and Anniversary graphics. I swear, the ignorance of some people…

The tanks are the annoying ones. I don’t see why they didn’t cover the holes from the turrets.

Just wish they had kept the Reach Assault Rifle.

I’m the complete opposite. I was never a fan of the Reach AR.

It’s just a more updated version graphically would be my guess.

Apparently, there was another retcon, saying that during Halo CE(A), instead of using the M90, they used the M45E (which is functionally the same as the M90). Follow the link below and go to data drop six. Apparently the Spartans used the M90s during the Fall of Reach (been a long time since I read the book so not sure. And ship was stocked up on the M45s instead.

Although not very good, this is the reason. In reality it was only because they didn’t want/have time to make a new model for the old weapon. And to be honest, the M45 looks very good. But I’d rather have taken the M90 just because it fits better.

The Reach AR is like a Nerf Gatling gun compared to the CE AR.
