So what's next for Halo 4?

As the topic states, what’s next for us? Will Halo 4’s only way forward from this point just be the rotational playlists? Are we expecting even more DLC? Have we hit the peak of Halo 4’s life? I’ll keep playing each of the various Halo’s of course, but what are your thoughts on the timespan between now and Halo (5) next year?

Population is around 15K, DLC playlist’s have less then 150 players… So there will be no more dlc’s i hope… I have war games pass, and did not play more then 50 games in dlc’s maps… Only if they get back firefight… That may get some sale, new MP dlc’s, no way…

I don’t think we’ll be seeing anything new, just playlist changes and perhaps that new weapon tuning they said they might work on.

If we did see something new I’m with Milan89SD and would love to see Firefight. That would be awesome. If nothing new that’s major comes along there’s still lots to enjoy with the game until Halo 5.

A race gametype, that’s pretty much it.

Halo 4 plus all four DLC packs has reached 2000GS which AFAIK is the maximum, so I’d caution against holding out hope for any more commercial DLC packs. Heck, I’ve been pleasantly surprised by Forge Island and everything after that, as I was convinced that 343i were going to hastily fulfill their War Games Pass obligations and then pull a fast one.

343i have demonstrated that they can add extra weapon skins into the game, so possibly we might see some more of them in future. At a long shot maybe even some new armor skins or armor sets. I think new maps and achievements are probably not going to happen.

(I’m still waiting for Spartan Ops Season 2, mumble grumble…)

I highly doubt they would have the time and commitment to build a complete Firefight mode. Best it returns for Halo 5.

I wonder if we will get a Spartan Ops Season 2. They mentioned that it took up lots more effort and resources than they originally thought, but I expected them to have started work on a Season 2 before the game launch. It’s possible they could have just pulled the plug.

I’m assuming SPOPS is post Halo 5. I do hope they make good changes for now at least.

Nothing more will really happen i think we just have to wait to vga or something.

Dust and echoes…

That’s all I really expect, but a Forge-Centered Map Pack would brighten up my mood.

BS ANGEL actually announced what she planned on doing in 1 of my threads back in august

So, from the looks of it, we wont see too much other than playlist updates.

Although it does look liker Forge island and community creations are getting some attention.

People keep saying 343 wouldn’t have time to build a complete Firefight mode . . . but isn’t it there already? From everything I’ve read, Halo 4 used Reach’s engine . . . that means it was all already there, just not being used or it was removed. Either way they already have the code.

And while I know I shouldn’t assume, my assumption is the code was left in and that’s what SpOps is built on, a stripped down version of the Firefight code from Reach.

Yes it would be work to put it back in, but not nearly the same amount of work as building something from scratch. They’ve got the code, they’ve got maps and the AI built for the enemies (SpOps missions). There’d be some work fitting it to the modifications they made to the engine, but they’d certainly not be starting at the ground and building from there.

they use the prior engine and rework it to fit there needs. its the same base engine but it has been overhauled.

i havent heard anything about spartan ops having anything to do with firefight so not sure there.

What is next for H4?
Well, doing my job, I’m going to observe the population until friday. With the GotY edition coming tomorrow, I will need to evaluate the average of players on throughout this week. That is what is next.

Halo 4 population will continue to decline. Halo 5 will come out, the game will be largely the same as Halo 4… the community will complain, band--Yoink!- will be applied but the community will bleed right back to nothing.

Unless 343 shows they are willing to make a dramatic game altering shift then I see no reason to believe life will get any better for Halo fans.
