I’m not concerned about the gameplay of Halo 4, or the story arch through Halo 5 and 6. I’m talking about what comes after. I know its a long ways away, but that doesn’t stop me from thinking about it.
Will the Haloverse continue in books and movies? Perhaps even more games? Will Halo be officially over forever? I mean, everything comes to an end eventually, right? But look at Star Wars and Star Trek. They’re peak time of interest has come and gone yet they still have tons and tons of die hard fans. Where do we go after this trilogy? Will we hold conventions and defend Halo in the nerdiest debates we can get into? Or does it just fade into nothing?
Lots of questions, I know. Your guys thoughts/opinions. What would you like to see after this trilogy of games is complete.
I don’t know, I can’t make up my mind with these types of questions…
I have a feeling that after Halo 4-6, the main story of halo will be officially over.
I can’t even begin to imagine the end of Halo games…It hurts too much…Ouch =/

I think the universe will continue to expand even after Halo 6. Sure the main plot will finally be over but that doesn’t rule out supporting stories that may come afterward. 343i was established to maintain the Halo franchise and I doubt very much if Microsoft would spend so much of their precious money only to take care of 3 games.
Only time will tell… but I plan on playing the original Halo games with my children when that time comes. I believe us current fanatics can give this awesome story to our children, and our children’s children so the Halo name lives forever as one of the great epics in the SciFi universe.
I actually am expecting a Precursor trilogy/game after this trilogy. There is too much ground to cover in 3 games.
Your speaking of a time that is over a decade away. This is like speculating on the 2024 Olympics…
In 10 years the gaming industry will go completely cloud, and likely completely portable. Halo will end if 343 allows it, but will most likely to continue to expand to more novels, a movie, different game genres etc. The story of John will be over, but the universe will continue to grow.
That all said many of us will be done with video games in a decade’s time, being that the youngest players will be college age and the average gamer from the original Halo will be somewhere around 30. I for one hope I am not playing video games to any degree at 30 like I was at 18.
Queue ignorant children saying Halo 4 Life or something to that degree. But in all seriousness, the series will not die off unless 343 allows it because there are so many avenues for growth both post and pre covenant, and there will always be a market for the universe. MS will not let this baby go, it is the Mario (or a better comparison may be Zelda) of Xbox; without it the system becomes obsolete to PS3 as the rest of the AAA exclusives can easily go multi-platform.
I know I’m talking about a time that is over a decade away, but that time will come nonetheless.
