100%, there needs to be about 50k less players in diamond to even out the curve, and I think like 5k less in Onyx.
But still, I feel like an adjustment needs made to social playlists for teams. The majority of the playerbase probably wouldn’t even notice and most probably don’t even know to what extent SBMM exists…but that’s why it’s an uphill battle to get anything changed.
The way teams work is you get harder games because the system expects teamed players to be more effective than solo players. So if you aren’t elevated by being in a team the games become harder. However the system learns over time that you aren’t an effective team and will balance out the games more the more you play together.
So ultimately it is always harder when you first play with certain players to further down the line with the same players, but it will always be harder for the weaker players to ensure the game is fair for the enemy team too. That’s how it used to be and you were punished harshly as a solo player. Now there is no problem for solo players if you play full parties. Games are 100% better for it in my opinion.
I have a hard time believing that. If that is the case, good on whatever SBMM they’re using.
I’ll say in Ranked, I agree, but for social, I humbly disagree. Good discussion though, I feel like we’ve hijacked the topic and gotten nothing accomplished. I’ll probably see you in the training yard, if I haven’t already…
Depends on if the sbmm determines us a good fit… See you there!
The whole thing about how it matches and measures squads is in the Trueskill2 paper. For someone who likes this kind of thing, I enjoyed reading through it.
