So... What are your overall feelings about HW2?

I haven’t played it to give an honest opinion, but what about you guys? Has 343 pleased most of you? Did they do okay? Or do you feel they just made another mistake?
Please give your feelings in the comments below.

I like this game a lot. I don’t think it is necessarily as good as the first Halo Wars as far as the campaign goes, but the multiplayer and balancing is definitely deeper. It also is not a terribly deep RTS game, but I didn’t expect that it would be coming into it so I’m not disappointed. The campaign has a few holes but is a fun romp. Definitely a step in the right direction.

I think the ending for the campaign is a giant cliffhanger, I can’t be the only one who thinks that.

I’ve really enjoyed it so far. I thought the campaign was much more challenging, and while it lacked in story, it made up for being a lead in to the next halo game.

For multiplayer, I’ve really come to enjoy it and actually feel it is balanced, except for a few things:
Forge
Sentinels
Unequal leader powers (at times overpowered leader powers)
Connectivity issues

Otherwise, I’m thrilled with it and I think a few small adjustments will go a long way.

If it was balanced better, servers were stable, bugs were fixed, AI had more versatility than the same strat. over and over, units had more upgrades like HW1, and a few other things… I think it’d be a strong game (8 or 9 out of 10).

As it stands it’s like a 6/10 for me, but when all the DLC are out and things are fixed, more units added, hopefully existing units get more upgrades & content, then it’ll easily be an 8 or 9 for me.

I thoroughly enjoy it and wish i had more time to play - stupid work and responsibilities also Zelda!!
The server connectivity issues are a huge pain in the -Yoink- but I feel there is enough to hold me over while they get that patched up.
Thought the campaign story was great albeit with a huge cliffhanger. The halo nerd in me is uber glad the Spirit of Fire got connected back to the main halo universe. I seem to remember the campaign being more difficult on legendary in HW1 but I could be wrong.
Overall a great game that I waited the better part of a decade for.

As someone who pretty much only plays campaign and skirmish for the most part im loving it. Atriox was badass (but really want to see more of him), isabel was a character i was surprised i liked as much as i did, and cutter was the leader of men a captain should be. The spartans had personality but not too much. Fantastic.

Those cutscenes were -Yoinking!- sweet as hell too. Jerome putting in work on those brutes was awesome. One of my favorites in any game.

I think it is outstanding with the exception of some disconnect issues.

As someone who has been playing RTS games for the last 15 years this one is pretty well done and balanced at launch imo. I think the frustrations that are constantly being voiced about this unit or that unit or this strat or that strat simply are not well versed in RTS games and how they should be played. To me (again, my this is my opinion) I have not found many of the common elements of frustration thrown out on this bored to be legitimate but rather new or young RTS gamers having a tough time adjusting to the play style.

At this point the only things I think that really need improving are:

  1. Banished infantry buff
  2. Tank population either decreased or tank damage/health slightly increased.
  3. Slight wolverine damage increase

If it and the first game weren’t the only official halo RTS games, they wouldn’t hold my attention for very long. Very shallow RTS games.

Personally, I really enjoy myself.

once the bugs are out of the way this game will be epic

Agree with most of the above, it will be a great game I am sure but the bugs are pretty frustrating at the moment. My biggest complaint is the lack of global chat, being able to speak to enemies in games and just general communication. I don’t understand it.

its a good game like halo wars1, but actually more alpha status then a retail version. hope it will not end in a second bf4 and we can play it in a few days without lags and not in 2 years.

2nd patch broke the game, Played 3 days then had to bench the game until it gets fixed.

please stop lying to yourselves we deserve much better than what we are being spoon fed by these liars. I have opened two threads about the terrible online experience in HW2 and both threads have been locked and deleted. I payed $60 for this game and it is unplayable by far. Crash after crash, terrible stutter and unresponsive units after another and these a holes have the audacity to announce their plans for DLC. Honestly that is a punch in the face as a consumer

the game is good just a broken mess , due to crashes and freezez on pc

The balance is really bad but the game is fun

It is indeed, but…

It ties in perfectly with the legendary ending to Halo 5. Which makes me even more stoked for Halo 6!

I really enjoyed the campaign although it isn’t exactly ‘deep’ it still had a decent story and has tied in really nicely with the FPS series.

Multiplayer has also been a real highlight for me. Theres a fair few gametypes to choose from + Blitz so you wouldn’t get bored to quick. The units are pretty well balanced across the board too.

Overall i’ve thoroughly enjoyed the game so far and with the addition of ranked in the near future i’m eager to see how the strategies develop etc. Only downfall is the out of sync/disconnects every now and then.

Yeah, I know.

But it doesn’t exactly conclude the story in halo wars 2, the banished and the forces on the spirit of fire are still fighting.

But yeah, it does make me excited for Halo 6
