Desync having it so that your enemy is seeing your back is a common issue, since you are facing their Lag Ghost while the server give them a perfect live feed while you get a delayed and glitchy one.
Combined with the ability to shoot a shot of your gun instantly followed up by a melee strike (especially good with the Mangler) is a common exploit.
It is like Halo 2’s BXR exploit all over again.
I believe it is a desync issue where what you’re seeing is momentarily 0.5+ second behind what the server is registering. It manifests in different ways, but in this scenario I suspect you don’t see the two BR shot…you just hear the beat down and Insta-kill.
I’ve seen it happen a lot to teammates and myself…I haven’t seen it happen to my opponents like I have when it comes to being able to shoot them through a wall to finish them off.
An enemy holding a Mangler CQB is an expected instant drop.
The melee is seriously breaking this otherwise amazing game. The inconsistent lunge is infuriating.
It’s less about desync in this case and more so weird collision issues.
I think AlternatVolt has some good examples of this occurring, player models phase through each other in some cases resulting in a melee collision that should impact the front hitbox, but ends up reaching through and hitting the rear hitbox.
