So were not gon talk about only 2BR spawns permap?

This is probably the thing I enjoyed the least about infinites multiplayer:

  1. Why is there only one BR spawn?? and why does the commando sometimes replace the BR entirely instead? of just having both simultaneously for players that like the BR more than the commando and vice versa.
  2. Another things that sucks about treating this gun like it’s a special drop is that sometimes players will camp at this spot and Keep taking the BR for more ammo stopping people from getting the gun and killing any long range potential they have feeding more into the AR meta.
  3. Maps like Behemoth are some of the worst cases of this it’s just awkward having to run up the hills to get a close range duel rather than having BR duels for mid distance.
  4. What I would propose is treating the BR and commando like all the past games like in H5. Just have them as a scattered pickup around the maps and have them both on one map it’s stupid that it’s only available in one place. This will increase people’s long range potential and stop the only useful gun in most cases being the AR.

It’s a good point and it was something I noticed… We are essentially saying the BR and Commando are equal in every situation with the current set up. I think it’s fair to say that there should be at least two drops on opposite sides of the map for precision weapons like this. And just make it one or the other.

I think less precision weapons helps make the casual game more fun. It’s easy to dominate a game with a BR or Commando so having just one means that player or team cannot be too powerful, but still gives you options to defend against certain plays or attacks.

On a map from Halo 3 like The Pit for example it’s common for a player to get the Sniper and BR in AR starts and you cannot kill them because they constantly have fresh ammo and multiple players on the team have them. The spawn trap is atrocious. I’ve had many a perfection thanks to that gametype.

Due to the size of Behemoth, more of them would just mean you get next to no closer range battles. I’m not sure how I feel about the weapon placement on that map yet.

Yeah very few precision weapons for basic social games like the ones we’ve now played. But we’ve only seen few maps, I’m sure there will be maps with a lot of br’s etc. Honestly though nothing is more boring in my opinion than fast mid-long range headshotfest. Talking exactly about Halo where you’re supposed to be a badass spartan with a sweet armor that should be able to take a bit of beating, I love close-mid range combat. Way more exciting than spamming headshots across the map…

I think the maps will get tweaked and rebalanced over time.

I do hope the final game doesn’t swap around weapons between matches like the current build does. It would be kind of neat if power weapon pads would change throughout the game, like starting as Rockets, then a Sniper, then Rockets again, but always doing it in the same order for that map. But all the basic weapons aught to never change, like the way BR and Commando spawns will be different from one game to the next.

Also, just a point. Guardian had one BR spawn (2 if you count the Carbine, but going forward I won’t). Midship had 2. Lockout had 2. Construct had 2. Ivory Tower had 1.

Great maps don’t need to have more than a couple of BR spawns.

I brought this up as well and it was met by crickets. I can’t believe the community isn’t all over this but I think that community left the building a long time ago. Sad.

But the thing is they’ve reduced bullet magnetism and aim assist to increase a skill gap in aiming so it’s weird to me why do both

I need more 3 burst goodness

I personally like it, they’re being treated as a lower tier power weapon, which they kinda are in Arena in my opinion. I always felt having more long range precision weapons made the gameplay slow down, with everyone taking shots at eachother from across the map. I like how with having competent starting weapons with a low-mid range encourages more skirmishes, something that has felt missing for me for awhile.

I noticed it as well and figured this is a design choice made by the balance team - I would like more than one precision rifle on Behemoth because of the super open sight lines combined with vehicles. I assume they don’t want the BR meta of H2 to become dominant again though which can be a positive - I’m sure BR start will be in ranked play somewhere.

Also I noticed people would spawn next to a BR and leave it most of the time, not even swapping it out, which seemed odd to me based on the previous games because it’s such a versatile weapon.

Could it be possible this was a choice made just to expose more players to the different weapons? It was a relatively short preview after all.

I don’t know why this choice was made it makes no sense to me honestly.

Just an idea, I could totally be wrong. But there have been games where people have been lucky enough to play getting completely new weapons such as the sentinel beam and the disruptor pistol. I’m probably wrong, but it was just a thought.

Each map has some preset loadouts, for example BR/Bulldog/Sniper or Commando/Heatwave/Skewer, not totally random.

343 said “scavenging is a big part of the gameplay loop” with AR starts even if BTB. Weekend warriors and newcomers (they don’t know the location of BRs and Commandos, Snipers and maybe can’t find a spare one) will be doomed by veterans, that’s all.

Personally, I want it like MCC to enable precision starts. And hopefully it is BR starts in ranked. If people want to play casual AR starts have at it, just keep it in one pool, lord knows I don’t want to play that.

I don’t mind playing the AR starts (definitely like the option of having BR starts though). But yes there definitely is not enough precision weapons on the map.
