So we have new forums

And yet still no off topic forum? Seriously?

We don’t need it, you know why…

The Yo! thread is off topic, I think.

An Off-Topic section is not necessary.

Yo thread, is the Off-topic section. bs angel changed her original post to the cat thread or aka the off-topic section.
I believe off-topic threads(such as the ‘YO’) work better then an entire forum on it. Keeps everything condensed and people actually reply to your post. Instead of your thread/post being left in the dust.

The Flood was/is the fastest moving forum on Bnet. If your topic was interesting you could get a 2 pages of replies within 3 minutes.

I actually only ever came here for the Cats forum. I probably won’t come here again with the exception of the weekly updates.

I do not want an off-topic forum. There’s no reason for one on a website and message boards dedicated to Halo.

Bungie’s The Flood is a perfect example of why we do not want one. That being said, I love The Flood forum on Bungie.net, but that subculture they have created would not be healthy at all on this website.

So? Just because the forum is based around Halo does not mean we can only talk about Halo. What makes forums great especially this one is not necessarily Halo but the community itself. If I wanted to talk about Halo there are a million forums I can do it on, but there is only one 343 Forums. I go here for the people that post here, the community. And this is why we need an off topic forum. If you don’t like the idea then you don’t have to post in the off topic forums. What is so wrong about that?

This isn’t bungie is it?
They tried doing the Off-topic forum in the GAMMA forums. It didn’t really work out. Now I don’t know how popular these forms are going to get in the future. But right now the forum is not need. One simple thread is easier to control then entire forum and that thread works just fine.

She sure did, didn’t she?

@OP:
I would just keep asking for one maybe if enough people want it, it will happen. The forums are constantly changing/improving.
You might want to put the requests in the feedback threads as well though. This will ensure the powers that be see it.

To be honest, if you want to discuss things that are off-topic do it over some social media site like Twitter.

Also, liking the final live forums. Maybe a few tweaks would be nice though.

A dedicated off-topic forum is not necessary, nor a good idea. It’s how spam and trolls are created.

We have the Yo! thread, which stays consistently alive. Why have an entire dedicated forum for off-topic, when we can have everything condensed into one thread? We all know the lifespan of most off-topic threads are less than a minute to begin with, so why would you want an entire off-topic forum?

You also have the argument that these are forums for Halo. Why would you need an entire off-topic section on a site specifically designed for only Halo? You can say “Oh yea?! Well Bnet as one!” Yes, Bnet does have an off-topic forum, but look at that place. Bnet is also a much larger community than ours at the present time, not to mention Bnet isn’t dedicated to one game. Bnet is a site for a developer and its creations, not a site dedicated to one game. The Floodlands on Bnet are great sometimes, however the majority of the time it’s just a lighter version of /b/.

Pin the Yo! thread, that’s all we need. In Yo! We Trust.
