The fact I can’t mix armour is borderline idiotic. It’s actually preventing me spending money on your game because of that fact.
Leave it that way for your fracture events or whatever. But man not mixing colours is Indefensible.

To clarify put a colour on a reach armour for example that’s exclusive for mark vii
I thought the advantage of these armour coatings was that they could be applied to anything, from armour to weapons and vehicles. Now you are telling me they are limited by armour core?
Not only that. You can’t even use the armor coatings that come in the kits on other armor permutations outside the kit. Everything in there is locked together.
And, as far as I can tell, no where on the store page does it tell you that.
This needless restriction is borderline false advertising.
Yeah. This was something a lot of people noticed in the tech flights.
You can’t apply a different color to a different piece of armor or anything like that. Whatever coating you choose your entire spartan (no matter what armor they have on) is now that color pattern. It’s a very restrictive system honestly.
It’s genuinely mindblowing that they would think of doing this. I’ve said this in another post, and I’ll say it again. Armor restrictions between cores is understandable, as 343 would need to adjust the pieces for each core. But coloring pieces of armor? Is that too much to ask for?
I really badly wanted to buy one of the eSports coatings as they are very beautiful coatings, but once I realized it would be specific to Mark VII I reconsidered the purchase.
Are you serious? How could they possibly take a restrictive concept as far as this?
I defended armor coatings at one point, as I actually thought they were a neat idea, but locking color by core? That’s outrageous.
Maybe there’s something to the armor cores that I’m not getting. Maybe they plan to index all of the Halo games’ amor into their own cores or something like that. But this just blows.
nope
you get armour coatings for 20$ instead
The customization in this Halo is one of the worst I have ever seen its extremely limiting and a big step backwards. Who ever came up with idea and agreed with it to be like this should be fired. 0 out of 10
Customization is a big part of the fun and they have ruined it they have ruined the fun
$20 for an armor set, $9 for coatings, $10 every few months to unlock ANYTHING, and now freaking armor color is locked to what armor your wearing…
The blatant greed here is getting to a level I never thought possible outside Activision. I have never seen my hype die so fast for a game.
No, I get that. I mean the coatings don’t seem cross-compatible between cores.
Good on you mate. However I’d say you are in a very small percentage.
Yea it’s really restrictive, this just makes coatings hurt a little bit more that they are locked to certain cores, I’ve already ran into a problem where I like a certain coating but I can’t use it on the Reach core which is the one I like and want to use.
All of these obnoxious restrictions are so off-putting, I cannot see myself buying anything. I already have buyers remorse from the BP because it is such a grind to get through (and it does not even have my favorite helmet from Reach).
If the primary source of revenue is suppose to be player expression, but the player expression is constantly arbitrarily limited, I do not see the point in investing money into this game. I am better off just ignoring cosmetics all together. I liked the look of the currently featured helmet (the eva-ish one that begins with a z, but the name escapes me), however, I do not want to buy it because it is double the price of the season pass at a whopping 20 dollars, but also because it is part of the mark VII core and I want to wear the Mark V [B] core.
Also, Destiny 2’s Shader system is leaps and bounds better than this one. Once you unlock a shader, you can apply it to any weapon, sparrow, ship, ghost and armor piece, your can apply it to each armor piece individually from one another, and, above all else, they are barely monetized because the devs know people do not want to pay money for colors. I would not be surprised if Destiny just came out with a system that allows players to create their own shaders in the future.
And I feel like I should be above petty customization complaints, but it is infuriating to see such blatantly malicious practices. I disliked shaders and cores since they were first announced, but I did not expect them to be THIS bad.
It’s only going to change if people continuously complain and also not spend currency on the system. It has to not be profitable for them to change it. Keep the traction going honestly, because right now this is not good.

This is important. I see people say that they will never change it because it is suppose to bring in revenue, but I have seen developers lighten up on monetization for less.
@theUSpopulation exactly. Battlefront 2 was unfair and had the same gimicky -Yoink!- corporate practices, and they changed it. Ultimately the irritant here is the F2P system as that gives leeway for them to basically adjust it however they want and Microsoft wants a certain profit margin, but Microsoft also wants one if their biggest brands to remain relevant and profitable for at least until these new developers they’ve bought up to start making 1st party IP. At this point if things remain this way, I truly think fans and casuals will jump ship faster than a yearly COD title. That fact alone needs to be constantly stated on these forums.
