Forgive me but i’ve been away from the site for almost two weeks. It s stated in the weekly Bulletin that Its the name for competitive multiplayer.
How does this differ from infinity? Perhaps Infinity Umbrellas custom games and matchmaking.
OR
War games is separate from NON competitive matchmaking. Im sure this has been discussed but ive been out.
Any ideas?
The way I see it is
Infinity = Mp and spartan ops maybe campaign
War games = Ranked playlists
I think War Games is your average competitive multiplayer and Infinity is your Spartan Ops, Training Missions(?) aka bots, and other non-multplayer-based games. Could be way off, though.
From my understanding, “Infinity” encompasses all multiplayer (matchmaking, customs, Spartan Ops, etc.), while “War Games” is strictly the name for Matchmaking. Could be wrong! I do, however, like the idea of War Games being only ranked playlists.
Regardless, as of right now, it’s one of those “we’ll talk about it at a later date” kinda things.
Infinity Multiplayer, and War Games are one and the same. It’s just called Infinity on the main menu of the game.

Right it just sounds perfect for the name of The Ranked side of MM

this seems most logical to me, but like Enfinit himself said, could be wrong…
343 weren’t trying to differentiate competitive and non-competitive multiplayer. “Competitive multiplayer” is just the multiplayer, with the word competitive tacked on. Probably for PR reasons, considering what has happened. In fact, it seems to be a trend for all developers to label their game’s multiplayer component as ‘competitive’ multiplayer. War Games is just a name replacement for Matchmaking. It’s lame, I reckon. Also, Infinity is the ship you play on.

YEAH
maybe
My theory
In Infinity you got:
Normal MP which is just training, aka not so serious.
Spartan Ops, which are the missions (hopefully only Heroic and Legendary).
War Games, which are the serious games to play when you think that you are good enough in the game.

This sounds lame, but it could be true…
Wasn’t it said that Infinity was all of the multiplayer modes and War Games was basically matchmaking? I’d crawl through NeoGAF to find when Frankie was talking about it but I don’t think it’s worth the time it would take to find the quotes.
