So umm... the Brutes...

Are they like all dead now? I really thought that we were done fighting Elites. So wtf do they not know that the Brutes took over as the main forces? We were only allies during Halo 3 I suppose… either that or they still like the Covenant. My guess is that 343 removed them or something.

Honestly, I’m sick of damn Elites and I was hoping they would stop being enemies after Halo 3…

The Covenant armada you are fighting against in Halo 4 is rogue and did not have brutes integrated into the heirarchy before they split off.

The books fill in alot of these holes

Back story is your friend, my friend.
Brutes, like the elites, more or less are civil warring among themselves after different factions were created. But unlike the elites most of them are not going all ape-yoink- (heh pardon the pun) towards humanity.

Personally I thought elites were great enemies. Challenging and satisfying to kill.

That can roll both ways, I was tired of Brutes after them being an enemy in Halo 2 during their first mission.

Didnt ya just love that on legendary?

You gotta remember that the Brutes literally nuked themselves back to the stone age before the Covenant found them. After they lost this war, it’s probably safe to say they’re mostly out of the picture, aside from some rebellions on Sanghelios.

To add to this, the Elites don’t exactly like or trust the Brutes at all right now. For more reasons than what happened during The Great Schism. The books explain why, but basically the Elites and Brutes are still in turmoil.

I guess I just fell like, why were the Brutes even introduced if 343 won’t even mention them in the next three games… Not even their weapons are there.

I doubt we’ll see them again ):

sigh

We are only on Halo 4, we know nothing about Halo 5, 6 and other future Halo games.

The Gravity Hammer is in Halo 4, which is a Brute weapon.

Also, Bungie introduced the Brutes, not 343i, it is entirely up to them if they want to continue the Brute’s as a main enemy.

I like fighting elites more than brutes. The damn apes were bullet sponges.

They were a pivotal part of the story in the first trilogy. Their presence overthrew the Sangheili’s position on the Covenant caste, which triggered the Great Schism, which overthrew the Covenant we knew back then. That probably saved humanity from extinction.

Actions have consequences, and the Brutes are facing their consequences for betraying the Sangheili at the moment. They may return, but it’s extremely unlikely. Their last hope for being a technologically advanced race lied with allying with the Elites, and since those that the Elites trusted after the war betrayed them, they’re going to get absolutely decimated.

Yeah but I mean, the Brute Shot or the Spike Grenade. And Vehicles like the Chopper and Prowler. I know what you mean… but I’m just saying that it’s possible that they just scrapped them completely.

The Brutes were NEVER interesting to fight, no matter what game you were playing.

Like everybody has already said, read Glasslands and Thursday War if you want to get an idea of why we’re still fighting the Covenant in Halo 4.

You don’t become buddy-buddy with xenos after they murder billions of your race.

Well you now have the Promethean to fight now.
