So Umm, about the Post 5 Halo Story...

I’m just left wondering what on earth 343 were trying to set up with Halo 4 now that halo 5 is out…?
What does Cortana becoming robogod ruler of the universe have to do with Master Chief’s vision from the librarian, with the Didact, and with the forerunners in general?

Are we supposed to believe that the forerunners were just a convenient vessel for cortana to get and army of robo bodies for her AI soldiers?
And what about the precursors, are they irrelevant to the story at this point?

Did anyone pick up any hidden connections or does it seem like they just changed their plans for the story between halo 4 and 5?

The Forerunners are integral to so many parts of the story. Halo 4 had its own story with the Didact using the composer to take up the Mantel and ensure the Flood would never rise again. The Composer is the reason the Didact was imprisoned. He wanted to make an army made of metal with the souls of Forerunners to combat the Flood instead of firing the Halo arrays. The Librarian knows he is wrong and wants humanity to reclaim the Mantle. That is what MC’s gaes is about. Cortana now thinks that AIs are the Reclaimers and will use the Guardians to enact an ever lasting peace.

This.

While Halo 4’s story doesn’t directly link into Halo 5’s story, it said the stage for Halo 5. Imagine jumping straight from Halo 3 to 5, You can’t. Halo 4 gave us the core characters, enemies, and set up the villain.

The librarian mentioned cortona by name so shes to be part of the plan.

I think it will all come together in Halo 6

Well, you have the gap in ability between Chris Schlerf and Brian Reed, who wrote for Halo 4 and 5 respectively. One is a competent storyteller and the other is not. Then you have 343’s attempt at presenting an arc with a grander scheme behind it and the execution was as sloppy as it could be.

No one should have to wait until Halo 6 for Halo 5’s story to make sense or come together. Halo 5 should be able to stand on its own as an installment to the series, not hobble around on the promise of, “It’ll get better!”
