It got severeal times mentioned that an UNSC satalite saw High Charity before the war.
However,I never found the original source.
So,do we know how far Hig Charity was away from Mars, how long it stayed in position and if the UNSC somehow classified HighCharity.
I think this was stated in Halsey’s Journal. I think it was in 2524, there as a siting of High Charity on the planet Mars via telescope (though how far the Telescope can see is up to anyone, maybe it is able to see past solar systems…who knows). However, they had no idea what it was, though suspected it was indeed alien.

Yeah, the journal came with a photo from the telescope with a triangular spot on it. Fairly sure that was High Charity, but I’m not confident it was confirmed to be the case.

I’m confident it was. It’s definitely a mushroom-shaped object in that picture.

It was indeed High Charity. The UNSC noticed it because it was artificial and too big to be anything they made
When and how did they eventually learn its name? I think it was mentioned in Data Drops regarding Operation: RED FLAG that they knew the name.
Even more interesting, the lore tells us that it’s been rumored lone-wolf RANGER-armor clad Spartans had infiltrated High Charity before…
You talking about this? Had to go dig in my Legendary Reach crate for this (it came with the copy of Halsey’s journal). On the back of the photo, it says the size of object is about the same as Puck, a moon of Uranus. Makes no indication of the distance from the aperture, but it does say the exposure time was 10 min. Given that modern telescopes are capable of imaging stars in other systems, I’d imagine the area of this photo is well outside the confines of the Sol system.

But wouldn’t that break lore? How could they have already infiltrated High Charity if the means to find it were not known prior to the planned Pillar of Autumn raid?

High Charity was always moving, though. So it wouldn’t be that far out there for individuals or very small groups to have stumbled across it by complete accident at points, sneaked in for a look and a little data acquisition, and bugged out again before they could be caught. By the time anyone else could get back to those coordinates - assuming anyone was crazy enough to even try - High Charity would have been long gone.
I wouldn’t regard any description of multiplayer armors as lore unless corroborated specifically by 343 Industries.

The description is from 343.So no doubt that it isnt canon.
Also the description says, that its just an rumor that spartans infiltrated High Charity.

It’s actually kinda weird to look at because it makes you think “what if we actually saw something like that via telescope in real life?” It would be creepy in my honest opinion.

But surely this information would have been vital to the Spartan Infiltration team… a moon sized station surely would have shown up on ONI radar if a Spartan had infiltrated it, and if they had been KIA by the Covenant, again, surely we would have heard of it? Just strikes me as a really weird claim for a rumor.
