I was afraid that this could be truth before I played the beta. The reality is completely different:
“The core” gameplay of CoD is:
-Fast TTK
-emphasis on weapon customization
-Run, aim down and kill or be killed
(just to say some elements of CoD. We can go a while and have another debate)
unless you played a different beta nine of this happen in Halo Infinite. Yes it is shooter, but right now is a “Halo shooter”, longer TTK, wait times to respawn a really more simple gameplay that it is “easy to handle, hard to master” (as far as we could play last weekend).
This last part is, in my opinion, the core of Halo Gameplay: a gameplay that you can teach to your friends in a minute, but that is hard to master if you want to get competitive.

He never played halo 4 to 5. In his case, he’s just another hardcore bungee-jump (bungie) fan.

They were worse. Like, significantly worse.
If you stopped playing after Reach - excellent choice, btw - I can see how you’d think this game was CoD with Halo skins, but trust me when I say, you ain’t seen nothing yet: Those games were basically CoD without the Halo skins, as they completely changed the art style of every weapon, armor, enemy, etc. beyond the point of recognisability.
Infinite is actually the closest we’ve gotten to actual Halo in over a decade, and that’s at least part of the reason why it gets so much praise.

> Obviously I know this is a beta… but it’s clear this game is NOT Halo… This game is Call of Duty with Halo skins… Bunny hopping, quick slide, super low TTK… You don’t feel like you’re in a powered armor suit with a SHIELD at all (except for how high you can bunny hop). The plasma weapons felt super underpowered, except instead of buffing them, I wish all the OTHER weapons were nerfed and balanced around the plasma weapons instead. The plasma weapons felt slower paced, they require some skill to lead your target, and they essentially felt like the Halo I remember and was hoping for.
>
> I cannot stress enough how disappointing it is to see every shooter (Battlefield, Halo, etc) feel like they need to copy COD’s quick, fast paced, meat-grinder gunplay and make the time to kill so quick. For starters, take frackin ‘slide’ out of the game. This feels frackin dumb in Halo. What’s next, wall-running? While you’re at it, take out quick weapon swap as well (well, it can stay, just increase the pistol’s swap time). Currently this game is about side-stepping left and right as fast as possible while emptying your Assault Rifle magazine into bunny hopping fools and attempting to dodge obscene levels of grenade spam, then instantaneously swapping to pistol to continue shooting without skipping a beat. This game is as twitch as it gets. Older Halo games were much slower paced and felt much better for it. You know, like you’re actually wearing a super advanced armored suit with a shield that actually helps you. If the shield regenerated faster or had more HP then it might balance out and feel OK; but how it is now you step out of cover and just a few bullets hit you and your shield is at 1/4 or broken and you have to sit and hide for 10 seconds until you’re fully recharged. NOT FUN.

Making a super fast-paced twitch FPS and slapping Halo skins on the front doesn’t make it a Halo game. Halo had a slower, deliberate feel to the gunplay that was refreshing from the twitch reflex 360 no-scope gunplay of COD and that’s completely gone now. The only thing I liked here was being able to sprint.

> Graphically, it looks nice. It performs terrible but this is the one thing I’m sure they’ll optimize for release. It currently needs MAJOR work on optimization. Playing this game on max Ultra quality at 4k on a 3080 gets me ~50fps. So I turned graphics down to 1080p with ultra settings… I go up to 50-55 fps. What? A 5 FPS increase for running at 1/4 the resolution? I then turned EVERYTHING to lowest settings possible, and I was just barely able to get 55-59 fps and it was still NOT smooth at all. Again though, out of the entire test of the game, this is what I’m least concerned about; I’m sure they’ll improve the performance. It’s the rest of the ‘feel’ of the game that is most concerning. This game feels nothing like Halo. Maybe playing it on console would feel more like old-school Halo? But damn on PC this feels like a twitch fest. Thank god I have Microsoft Game Pass because I would never buy this game.

I think I just died a little inside. You know cod kills in millseconds right? From all the testing ive seen, the only guns that do so are one shot power weapons. Heck the br ttk for HS is the exact same as h3 with a slightly faster body shot ttk (and even then, its still over 4 times longer then say the modern warfare m4a1)
Name a COD game with a 7 second respawn timer. I loved the original Halos and this feels like them without it being as floaty. Its really really good (as of what we have now)
–Now lets talk performance. Your computer rig is so much more powerful than mine, yet I am getting wayyyy better frame rate (around 75fps) Here are my specs.
Here is what you do to get better fps.
1- Update your drivers! SUPER IMPORTANT
2- Set Maximium FPS to your screens refresh rate in my case its 144hz
3- Set minimum FPS to 60
Boom butter smooth gameplay with medium and or low settings.

Low ttk? I think it is high, it feels like im shooting endlessly with a br just to get a kill

No hill to die on. I have been playing Halo since CE in 2001 on the original Xbox. This game is most definitely the best version of Halo since Halo 3 which IMO was the best Halo until potentially this game’s full release.

couldn’t agree more, the only cod thing infinite has is maybe monetization apart from that the games play very different

For sure man. Right there with you. I agree, there’s no hill to die on, but unfortunately I have to say that because there are a lot of passionate folks in the halo community that only want a reskin of halo 3. Which wouldn’t be good in 2021. It was good for its time, but halo needs to evolve and move forward. To me this is the first true sequel the halo 3 multiplayer

100% agree with this. Halo 3 can be a foundation but the game needed to evolve and I think this is the perfect balance of using what made Halo 3 great with improving upon the building blocks and modernizing the game to what is expected of a AAA title such as Halo.

The commando has a ttk of 1 second. As does the pistol(all head shots. 1.2 for all body) They need to nerf those 2 guns honestly

I actually agree to an extended, but not by much. I think the commando should either at 1 additional needed shot to kill, or the initial burst should kick quicker (given the 1st 3-5 shots) are pretty dead on. Not sure about the pistol. I personally ditch it for better weapons. Its a decent starter but not ole reliable
I really enjoyed the Tech Demo. Felt like a great mix of the best parts of Halo 3, Reach, and 5. If you felt this game was a twitch fest, I hate to tell you that is basically a core part of what makes something a FPS. You simply are always going to have to twitch to targets especially when it comes to future game types like precision slayers, swat, or snipers. This game played nothing like the newer COD’s to me. I enjoyed the slide mechanic to duck out of fire, and to this point, the slide is abused in COD because it literally speeds up the player whereas in the tech demo it did not speed up your player so I don’t think slide cancelling is even really possible here. Halo has always been about grenade placement to one tap your opponent and if you didn’t know that, then there is a pretty great chance you weren’t very good at previous Halo’s online. I also don’t really understand your take on TTK… you ask to have it lengthened with human weapons but shortened with plasma? where have you been? plasma has always been used to shred shields to again, one tap your opponents with a human weapon. Bottom line is you were likely getting team shot by the bots because they were programmed in such a way to spawn grouped up. If you got caught by even 3 bots on the easiest difficulty in the tech demo you would get shredded. Halo has ALWAYS been a game about team shooting to finish enemies quickly. Not to mention that Battle passes are how these dev companies can make a killing. This is how games monetize these days. would you prefer the halo 5 loot boxes? would you prefer no new content over time like how halo 3 or reach were? no. Battle passes are fine if the game itself will be free and if it doesn’t change core gameplay - which it has been confirmed will be cosmetic only.
TLDR - your opinion is yours and no one will take it from you, but your take is essentially telling us all that you don’t actually know what makes Halo, Halo. The tech demo is a celebration of the best parts of Halo MP and only resembles COD by being a FPS.
First of all, not sure what you mean that the TTK is super low, cause compared to COD, it’s a lot more, even though I do think some of the weapon should be toned down. Two, Sprint is barely faster than base movement speed, slide is also pretty tame and is used more as a tool then a fast paced mobility device. UI is a little messy and generic, but I’m sure they will fix that. But the gameplay is a combo of halo 3 and 5, with a little bit of Reach, and the majority of the community is loving. To conclude, this game is not COD with halo skins, it has slower TTK, more interesting ways to interact with the environment, and has more dynamic gameplay and by the looks of it, more interesting map design. If you think this game is anything like COD, then I don’t think you’re playing Halo Infinite

I think we played different games mate. This felt like Halo! Honestly seems like what would happen if Halo 3 and Halo 5 had a baby. In terms of map design and theme, there’s only so many concepts that can be created at some point maps are going to seem similar to another. It’s just the way it is. This is still a technical preview though, things are ever changing. I’m sure with the feedback provided there will be some changes made for the future.

Bro, How? My Specs:
AMD Ryzen 3700X Running OC 4.6ghz - Ram 16GB 3600mhz - GTX 1070I got a Vizio 4k TV and a cheap 144hz 1080p Acer monitor (Main Display), I did the minimum max fps cap thing, have everything on low and lowered the res to 80% of 1080p and still was struggling at 40~50ish FPS with a bunch of micro stutters that were basically making my experience unplayable.
On top of that I was unable to play much because server stability was just not there, it usually took me 40 minutes to play a single match.
