So... the Prophet is like... REALLY fun.

No one ever sees the Elite Honor Guard rush coming. Seriously, it’s so amazingly hilarious. Because you know people see the Prophet and are like “oh a Prophet lolol, I got this” and then a battalion of Elites teleport in and murder his Arbiter instantly and then he’s like “What the **** just happened?!”

Also, using the Prophet to fly around dropping Locusts everywhere is just awesome.

The Honor Guards part is right because yes, they are incredibly over-powered against a Arbiter. However, they are not over-powered against Tanks, so the thing about battalions of them, you shouldn’t be building more than 3-5.

The thing about the PoR is that he’s by far the best Covi for Covi vs Covi fights because he can play the strongest defense and is capable of the most efficient offense. However, he’s not very useful against the UNSC mid-game units. The PoR’s major downfall is his inability to do lightning-fast damage before a Tank rolls out as opposed to the Brute, who does work quickly before getting pushed off. A great Prophet player knows how to do damage throughout the match until he has air lead.

The part about the flying Prophet: If you ever get a flying Prophet, the other team was either so bad that you didn’t have to try to win, or you’re trying to lose. By teching your leader, you’re not building units. If you’re sitting on a max pop for more than 30 seconds to a minute, you aren’t using your units properly. A T3 leader other than the Arby is a waste of money if you’re trying to win a game quickly. If you’re just screwing around and don’t care about improving, then a T3 Chief or PoR is a lot more fun than winning.

Lol yeah, if I’m playing people who are good I’ll go Temple second and hit them with Blessed Immolation and only a few Honor Guards (usually about 3) just to keep buildings down, and I usually won’t make very many after that if at all. Sometimes against noobs I’ll go Temple first and make like 5-10 Honor Guards and watch the fireworks lol.

I also wouldn’t try going for a flying Prophet against good people but if I smell that I can do the Locust thing and get away with it I’ll go for it. It’s just too funny not to.

I’m always trying to improve, but I guess I can’t help but go for the funny stuff when I end up playing Prophet.

It’s always fun to screw around, the important thing is that it’s just screwing around and it would never happen in a real game.

One really fun way to chill and do stupid stuff is to turtle. Your micro can develop well when you’re an improving player just by turtling. It teaches you how to build up smart for the mid-game and, over time, you’ll learn how to build your units more quickly, plus it teaches you improv, which is much more important than build order.

When you’re really interested in getting stronger as a player, however, quick-searching games is a good way to force yourself how to learn good macro, which typically matters more than micro in HW. As your TS raises, you’ll have to understand the game more in order to keep winning.

Starcraft 2 was my first RTS and I watch a lot of Day9. I think my macro is pretty strong and I can well handle the mid and late game

To be honest, what I think I need to work on most is early game defense, so quick searching is probably best. I just don’t fight many good players, most of the good people I find end up being my teammates.

What I would recommend is, instead of searching with randoms you meet, go find a partner or two for Party Teams that you can stick with. When you’re trying to get into the HL community, you’ll be recognized by the people you play with. So, it’s best to stick with a solid team that can contribute to you improving as a player. Party Teams are by no means a solo game, teamwork is half the battle to becoming a good player. For me, I pretty much can’t play 2s now unless it’s with my partner, Tu Legit, since we’ve been playing for almost a year and I can’t work so well with anyone else. But, we’re among the best 2s teams for it and the same goes for 3s with BH Phenomenon. Older HL players associate me with BH even though I don’t have it in my tag because we all stuck so well as a team. One always knows what the other is thinking and we’re able to give each other more direct input because of our ability to work so well together. You won’t have that kind of thing happen by playing with players you don’t know well. Trying to solo a Party Teams game doesn’t work. You should constantly be communicating with your team members throughout the game.

As long as you take the first people you get over UAs, you’ll likely never find a good partner. I find that the best games I play are against good teams, not just good players. In the end, everyone wants to fight for their name to be big, but my best moments of Halo Wars have been with my team. People may recognize me for my name as an individual, but I’d rather them think of me for how well my team preformed. I say screw my name and look at what my team contributed to the game because players who try to hog the spotlight ruin the fun of the game. The individual shouldn’t matter as much as the team.

Quick-searching won’t do you as much good if you don’t have a team that you plan to stick with. If you lose, you just play with other people that you can win with and if you win, you won’t learn how to work well together because you aren’t going to be sticking around for too long. As you get through the mid-levels, you’ll have to do this a lot and you’ll be on your own for a while, but once you start getting HL, it’s far better to have a team. But, some HL players are known for their bad teammates as well. Part of the reason why I played with Tu Legit and Phenomenon is because our macro lined up really well and I’d suggest trying to get close to players that share your macro, it leads to less dispute.

lol you two should just start a private chat.

Yeah, I was kind of hoping someone else would come in

Yeah, that happens every once in a while on forums doesn’t it? lol

I can still remember the first game I played when I used HGs to beat an Arby. The first two times he came running in with rage, he went down fighting bless him. The third time I rocked up to his base with T2 HGs and he turned and ran. LOL

The death animation for HGs killing the arby is one of my favorite things in this game. Seeing them stab him with an energy sword and hurl his lifeless body 50 feet away never ever gets old :stuck_out_tongue:
