“This drawing of a monkey is rare because I made it and I said so, therefore this NFT is worth 2.5 million dollars.”
Basically Halo Infinite shop rarity in a nutshell
Borderline NFT territory of artificial rarity
They’re pretty much telling you “it’s expensive because we are making it rare, so either buy it now, or possibly never again”

The idea about rarity seems to be, according to Uny, is that some items have higher production value. How the consumer is supposed to determine that outside of 343 saying so is beyond me.

They’re acting like a single armor set is equivalent to an expansion pack.
I know dlcs I could buy instead of this and they’d make me much happier.

The rarity system is dishonest. The biggest issue with it isn’t that it’s a marketing gimmick. The rarity system in other games is already a marketing gimmick when it’s related to power or actual rarity. It should be replaced by a line that states the origin of the item so that if people want it then they know where to find it.

Production value or not it’s ridiculous that they use that reasoning. They can sell an infinite amount of whatever they design and make up whatever cost in a few sales instead of passing those costs off on the customer, which is what Ske7ch said they are doing.
343i is a disgrace and they aren’t being honest with us at all.

Remember when map packs were a thing? $10-15 for 3 fully made and tested maps to support the game’s longevity for invested players.
Now it’s the same price for a cosmetic that took an artistic a day at most to make and is obsolete the next week.
There is no reason an armor bundle of any “rarity” need be more than $5 especially with the quantity that they are adding them, hell just use pieces from the earlier games, 90% of the work is already done and most players would be happy with having some legacy styles to play with. They might even sell more and build some good will back.

At best, this reasoning is a flimsy excuse that quickly falls apart once you realize that 343i determines the standards for what is and isn’t “Epic” or “Legendary.”
At worst, it will set a nasty precedent for future items going forwards.
Realistically, one item in the store is worth the same as any other item because all items cannot be earned in any other way than in a store that provides unlimited numbers of those items so long as they are available for purchase.
Ultimately, this false justification of raising the store’s prices has caused a great deal of agitation and will continue to do so moving forward.
As an example, let’s say that 343i releases a flashy new visor with a color-changing effect that costs 1000 Cr. According to Ske7ch, this is perfectly reasonable because it is a “Legendary” cosmetic that sets itself apart from other, duller, visor colors.
Assuming that people actually buy this pathetic excuse, that is where the store is headed. There is no justification for raising the prices, 343i; there is only the desire to make as much money as possible from a game that is already on a downwards spiral.

It’s more than apparent they didn’t care during this explanation to think that were not dumb. Then again drones weren’t added to the campaign because “players would have to look up.”
I hope people are smart enough to not buy this set. Wait for it to get cheaper. We can and WILL force these prices down

From what ive seen rarity doesnt mean crap rarity levels arent based on actual rarity. Its literally there for eye candy at best. Thats honestly just a bs excuse for them to raise prices for a crap armor set and future sets

Even if rarity was set up to be accurate and not randomized on what is common rare etc that would still be a bs reason to raise prices. Its like selling limited edition content for obscene prices because its limited. Practically no one does that crap and people themselves skyrocket prices for resell due to rarity

Wait…that was actually used as an excuse? Seriously?
Might as well just add the man hours next to the lore tab if that’s the case.

I just want to go ahead and point out that the rarity used here is the same as lead belcher. Now I’m not sure but want war master originally priced at 15?
Thank you. Wasn’t too sure and didn’t know how to find it again. Didn’t want to spread misinformation.
Regardless still aggravating that by Thier logic legendary gear is anywhere from 12-17 and so is epic… And rare … Lol
Yeah and here it is again in the shop and they haven’t reduced the price like they’ve done before with reoccurring items. Got to squeeze everything they possibly can from us.
