So the new aiming settings...

Help me out here. I’ve been looking forward to these since they were announced, but I just finished the update and started messing with them and they don’t seem to solve the one problem they were supposed to fix.

So, myself and a lot of others find Halo 4’s aiming to be the smoothest and most modern of the bunch while going back to Halo 1-3 is a little more awkward in large part to how they handles look acceleration.
In Halo 4 every direction you aim has the same amount of acceleration giving it a consistent feel, but the other games seem to multiply the horizontal and vertical acceleration so that aiming diagonally accelerates the crosshairs faster than simply aiming on the X or Y axis.

Am I missing something in these new settings, or is that an issue that’s impossible to address?
There is indeed an acceleration setting, but that does nothing in regards to the doubled diagonal aiming. I can also adjust the X and Y axis independently, but again, that won’t solve the issue.

And finally, the other problem with the rev settings is that each game tells me that it has 5(default) acceleration and 12% deadzone along with whatever my look sensitivity is.
Thats not as helpful as I’d like as clearly every game has a slightly different bunch of settings.

I was hoping I could scroll over to Halo 4 and just ‘copy’ it’s aiming settings across all the other games, but the way it is now it’s telling me every game has identical settings which makes it harder to try and change each title to better match another one.

So the effort is appreciated, but unless I’ve missed something it doesn’t help fix the problem people wanted fixing.

Yep, so that was pretty much my findings during my brief test this morning. Although Halo 2 Anniversary (obviously) doesn’t control like Halo 4 in campaign but instead has the diagonal acceleration.

And his point about Halo CE having next to no acceleration plays is to my other issue where it’s listed as having the same default of 5 acceleration as every other game in the collection. It would be nice if the default settings for each game better represented the actual controls for that title.

sigh

Waited for months for that to be addressed and it’s not any different. I’ll see if tinkering with the deadzone curve inn my Elite controller can improve anything.
