Speculation anyone? I think it’s a Fathom remix. It has a similar aesthetic, as well as theme (destroyed research base). Also the top windowed “dome” thing resembles Fathom’s. If it is a Fathom remix, it would mark the first time a remix is a completely different location than the original (all other remixes are just the previous map but destroyed).
The water probably dried up

That’s a possibility but I don’t see why they would be studying terrestrial plant life in an underwater research base.
Were those plant exhibits ever in the original?

No. It could be one of the other buildings, but my previous question still remains.

Who knows, maybe they’re using it for food/oxygen purposes, though that would be out of place considering the time.

The main reason I would say yes, is because of the roof. Besides that, it looks entirely different.

A persons gotta eat
I’m just saying the themes don’t add up. Sure, they can make any number of explanations technically work, but I’m talking more about artistic intent. Studying terrestrial plant life in an underwater base is just an odd theme to roll with for a map setting. It seems to me that it’s more like this place was on a lush world that was destroyed in the war, and these plants are samples. Or it was set on a desert planet or an un-terraformed planet and these plants have something to do with seeding it.
Also Fathom’s description suggests it’s not really a research station and it’s more of a salvage/recovery base.

343 could just say it’s a new map, but they’ll probably bill it as a remix and unnecessarily get hate for it.
Hope not. I really wonder if they have figured out that a big majority of their players don’t want “remix” maps…
Na. The Rig and Fathom seem like remixes. Both are mobile platforms, one underwater and enclosed, the other arid and open.
What’s shown looks like a colonial food growing facility OR a botanist’s research facility. The remix of that map seems to be a biodome that has been completely compromised and dried up by the once valuable solar powersource.

I’ve got a theory that every base Arena map was supposed to have a remix counterpart (to fall in line with the whole “two sides” theme of Halo 5, like Chief vs Locke, Red vs Blue, etc.) but because of the MCC (or greed), not all of the remixes were present at launch. We already know about The Rig’s remix, so that just leaves Fathom and Coliseum.

Well everything is speculation so you can’t expect a solid answer from anyone here.

The Rig and Fathom are nothing alike…
Fathom is symmetrical, The Rig is asymmetrical. The only map duo that’s symmetrical-asymmetrical is Empire and Eden, and they’re both very similar in layout (and they’re set in the same place). Fathom and The Rig have almost nothing in common. Especially not in terms of layout.
The Rig is more like an asymmetrical adaptation of Adrift from Halo 4.
Yes. It’s a remix of that. It still looks quite different though. The remixes are still quite different from their originals you know?
This to me looks like a new map entirely unless its a remx of fathom but not based underwater…? Not sure but it looks interesting!
Looks similar to Fathom; I hope it isn’t a remix and is an entirely different map.
Make since looks like a interesting map

It is.
Why do you hope that? What big meaningful difference does it make?
