So, that Vanguard permutation...

Hello there everybody. I come here in need of some help. Well, I’ve decided to try and unlock the Vanguard armor, but I’m not too sure on which levels I should be grinding, or anything like that.

SO, would anyone be kind enough to help me out with this?

This link should satisfy all your needs:

I was just looking into this yesterday. A Blues Fan has a great vid for this, will go find it now…

EDIT: https://forums.halowaypoint.com/yaf_postsm2346046_Crawler-Snipers--Knight-Commanders.aspx 3rd post

2475 crawler snipers. 3 every 50 seconds = 11 hours of grinding/800 repetitions (bare minimum) of that video… dunno if I can take it.

Theres also a level where you can spawn, immediately kill a sniper, then restart. Its meant to be pretty fast but you have to watch a cutscene every time… E1C3

I’d just stick with Spartan miller 5-1 as you’ve got everything in that mission. (I think)

It also has 2 of the commanders and will only take you around 8-10 minutes per mission.

But as everyone else has said I’d recommend doing them if you’ve only got sniper to go.

Good luck!

5-1 has 12 snipers (if you let them all spawn) but it’s going to take you like 3X longer than other methods. Still, definitely a good way to break up the repetition of having to endlessly restart the other missions.

Fastest time on the spreadsheet is 12 minutes for spartan miller (since you have to wait for all waves of enemies, and for watchers to spawn all enemies - in practice it takes me even longer). Thats 1 per minute instead of 3. So 35ish hours of grinding.

Ep 1 Ch 3 The Challenge, there is a Sniper right at the start. Kill & then restart the mission.
Ep 5 Ch 1 Spartan Miller, is a great mission as it has all you need to kill in it, a good way to get the Knight Commanders & Snipers.
Ep 6 Ch 5 Switchback, This is the 1 in A Blues Fans youtube video & again is a great way to get Commanders & Snipers.

There is a 4th mission solely with Promethean’s in it, I may be wrong but I think it is Ch 5 Ep 3 Everything has gone wrong! Tho I may be mistaken on the exact mission I am positive it is in The Refuge.
It has a good few Commanders in it plus all the other required Promethean’s!

I used a mixture of all 4 to get the Forerunner Destroyer Commendation, couldn’t tell you how long it took but boy it was a very long time!

Thank you very much for the help everyone.
Now, onto grinding for most of the night and my day off tomorrow!

Lol! It’s gonna be more like 2 months of grinding!

It does take a really long time. I suggest you watch videos or podcast while you do it on a surface RT or Pro!

Not a half bad idea. Thank god for Netflix.

I have finished killing all the Covenant and ForeRunner enemies about 30 days ago.

The last ones I had to accomplish was the Sniper Crawler Master killer. I tried a lot of different variations of Spartan Ops episodes before settling on Episode 6 Chapter 5 “Switchback” as the fastest, easiest way to get that achievement. It’s a total boring grind.

Here is how I did it and also the statistics for it (it works out to 1.85 Crawler Snipers per minute of game play):

HTH…
