So stupid question, but I feel that I need to ask

Did 343i get rid of crouch jumping in order to justify having clamber?

If this is true then please don’t do that, have both.

If anyone from 343i could comment on this it would be of much help thank you.

I’m not from 343, but from what I’ve seen/heard when u push the crouch button (analog stick) you do the ground pound. So to answer your question I would say yes 343 unfortunately is making halo 5 noob friendly aking skill away.

I think there are now tough clamber jumps instead. Different mechanic, same results. I wouldn’t worry too much about it. Plus, there will always be other control schemes so crouch jump may still be possible.

I’m so glad they removed the crouch jump. it literally never helped the game, all it did was make it annoying. clamber is simply better, it increases game flow and you don’t have to deal with some weird crouching just to get up a ledge.

I hope this isn’t the case

I never heard of crouch jumping until people started talking about Clamber. So it isn’t that big of a deal

lol I only used crouch jumping for those obstacle courses in custom games. It was pretty much useless everywhere else.

It’s sad though, to see an iconic Halo feature gone…at least for now.

Crouch jumping has been a major part of the game for a very long time. It’s mostly used for skill jumps, which are mostly used in MLG. So basically it’s important to players who take their game a little too seriously but nonetheless are apart of the community so it’s important.

Not gone. As long as you can crouch and jump, you’ll be able to crouch-jump.

So… the crouch button may/may not change so therefore 343i is undoubtably making Halo 5 “noob friendly?” Ok, yeah, I can totally see the logic in that.

I like crouch jumping, but I have seen it abused by players to get out of map and get kills in areas where no one can reach them.

Crouch jumping was removed, but the skill jumps will be designed around clamber. So, it doesn’t matter,

I think Ground pound is hold to crouch, so you could in theory have crouch jumping in some form.

However, with clamber you’ve got something a little more consistent and accessible to players. Crouch jumping is one of those things that requires precision to the point of needing luck if you’re playing a full game. I’ve tried crouch jumping during a busy game and been off by centimeters.

Crouch Jumping was nice for widening the skill gap, but is it really necessary? No…sometimes it really was annoying. I’m fine with climbing

If there is a scheme to to ground pound off crouch, then i may consider it. Having both is a +

no more “pros” crouching mid air???
dang, gonna have to learn a new technique

From the developer’s standpoint, it may fix some jump glitches where you could get to previously inaccessible areas. I.e. the area on Dawn in Halo 4 where you can bypass all of the enemies in the Missile Launch part.

That being said, Halo has always had a large glitching community, it may not fix anything in that regard. I do agree it will at least make combat flow more evenly. Nothing more awkward than a failed crouch jump.
