So Spartan Ops Is Just Disc Locked Content?

Good job 343, ripping off users who don’t have Xbox Live and can’t unlock the other Episodes, and making Live users wait for you to unlock them.

Yeah, can’t help but notice that they said there were 10 episodes on the disk, yet we can right now only play 3, nope not suspicious at all. Edit: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aK9f8-LSqcg&feature=g-user-u at around 1:00 it says
“10 episodes 50 missions included with halo4” the -Yoink-?

I’m tempted to mod just to play them.

I really don’t see what the problem is. They are slowly unlocking them at first, because they want to give you the experience of. I don’t know. It is how they made it, and they will all be unlocked soon.

I actually like what they are doing. It’s not like they have completely made us unable to play them. Relax, play online, play the campaign, soon it will come.

imagination if they did this with campaign, would you say the same? we payed for it, so whats the point of locking it away? it quite obviously a cheap tactic to keep you coming back to play it.

Which is the whole point of it. What’s the problem? I like the anticipation it generates.

It did kinda suck that even though I had beaten all 5 missions of Episode 1, when my internet was out for a couple days I couldn’t access any of the Spartan Ops. Since I didn’t have internet I went after achievements, including my solo legendary run.

It’s not like I’m streaming the missions from 343 servers. I don’t see why once they’re unlocked I can’t just play it anytime regardless.

Yes, they explicitly said so in basically every ViDoc that touches on Sops. Without the “cheap” part, because it isn’t. By your logic, multiplayer is a cheap tactic to get players to come back.

Versus burning through it in an hour?

Anyways, I like having it unlocked every week. Imagine what it would be like having to download 5 whole maps, cinematics, and missions perweek. Only problem (and its not from my perspective) is having to have Xbox Live Gold for it. But on the other hand, who buys Halo 4 without Multiplayer?

While I really like Spartan Ops and enjoy getting new episodes every week, I don’t agree with it being Gold exclusive.

Personally I think that once the season is over (say, two or three weeks after), 343i should release an update that unlocks it for everyone. Silver members can get the update automatically, offline players can burn the patch to a dvd from the website and install it on the 360 that way.

For $60 USD I think you definitely paid for everything on the disc.

I enjoy the story buildup, I’m sure they’re buying time to get an idea as to whether or not they should continue Spartan ops past it’s first season, as well as work in the story line should they decide to do so

Of course it wouldn’t be nice, but campaign isn’t made that way. It’s not some mini-stories that unravel over time like Spartan Ops is meant to be. Just be thankful they go through the trouble of making cutscenes every episode to make the lore much more interesting. But you probably don’t care about the story anyway.

We have Micrsoft to blame for that. They didn’t like the sound of basically a second free campaign, so they compromised with 343 and made it Gold exclusive.

Something I love about BUNGIE is that they always seemed to have integrity when it came to giving fans what they deseve, while other games like mass effect 3 having people pay for DLC that was kept out of the game on purpose.

At first I thought: “Gee, I guess they are encouraging people to get xbox live by offering weekly DLC. That sucks, but at least they are honest about it.”

But inculding already finished DLC on the game disk that is unavaliable to people who don’t have xbox live(people who also paid 60 dollars for halo 4) is just plain evil.

I hope 343 apologizes for this, because it is wrong. Just because EA does crap like this it doesn’t mean it’s justifyable to cheat customers.

Yeah it’s pretty lame.

I guess it wouldn’t be so bad if it didn’t require live to even play. Being disc-locked sucks but if I could go home and play the available missions offline I’d be happy.

I don’t have any internet at my house so if I’m not connected to LIVE I can’t play the content on the disc? Yeah, smooth move.

You’re not missing anything, so far… well the first time you play shoot out on Vahalla and they drop the…errr well that was pretty awesome and the VIP mission with the… umm I don’t want to ruin it, but after a couple of times the episodes all gets old real fast.

Cough" Palmer sucks" Cough.

not cheap like SO, but most games I.E COD and BF have have multiplayer to keep players coming back.

Honestly, I don’t have a problem with this.
It’s not like they are charging us for the episodes, they’ve just turned 50 co-op missions into a weekly series, I kind of like that. It helps pace out the matchmaking for each mission, and yes, it does keep players coming back on a weekly basis to see what happens…but that’s what a weekly series does. It’s like a television series that’s recorded the first season, but airs each episode in order, once a week rather than burning out the whole season in one marathon.
I still get everything on the disk for the initial price, I just don’t get instant access to it all at once…which is similar to how I don’t get access to every campaign level or customization option right off the bat, it’s just that in Spartan Op’s case, time is the deciding factor rather than my personal effort.

However, I do think 343 needs to find some way to give offline and silver players access to Spartan Ops.

I think this is great. Better than having to download everything once a week. that would be a lot of stuff to download. I enjoy the build up as well. I don’t want everything right away. It keeps things interesting.
