So, SPARTAN-IIs can have kids

Or, at the very least the men can. interesting. Imagine Master Chief as a father!

The Master Chief has taken a liking to being a killing machine. He feels remorse and sadness for all the close people he has lost, but in the end of the day he has accepted his role as one of humanity’s finest soldiers. The Master Chief would never become a father as he has already accepted that he will die a soldier’s death one day which is evidenced by his thoughts as he is almost decapitated by the Didact in Halo: Escalation.

Well, we dont know that yet.

Maria-062 was somehow retired (though still helps with armor testing) with kids.

Not sure if she has a Family. Only that she has the intent to start one. Even if its Adopting or so on we do not know.

Apparently

Which is something I’ve been wondering. In “Mortal Dictata”, Naomi says that one of the side effects of the augmentations is that her -Yoink!- drive has been suppressed to the point where she’s basically celibate. So how did Randall and Maria manage to have kids while they were still augmented?

In the Fall of Reach, I believe it’s only described as a potential side effect, not that it will affect everyone.

you can still have -Yoink!- without a -Yoink!- drive

Maybe Randall and Maria where just naturally really -Yoink!-.

Even if it was a 100% suppression (which its not), its possible Randall just fell in love with his wife and she wanted kids, so they did.

Maria said she wanted a family, not that she was going to do every guy on Earth. Besides, the only spartan II’s who were romantically involved was Margaret-053 and Otto-031.

the books never said the augmentations gave the Spartans ED and even if they did they could just take space Viagra…
plus Randall had most of his augmentations removed anyways.

Maria was pretty stupid IMO. She decided to settle down and have a family just as the Covenant were about to show up and kill most of humanity. Not like they needed her help or anything…

It still amazes me that her request was granted. She would probably still have been in active duty (volunterily) if it had been denied. There weren’t too many spartans that survived the augmentation and only John, Fred, Linda, Kelly, and Will were avaliable to protect Earth, but they left for Onyx (exept for John). Also, in Halo 3, I wonder why she wasn’t mentioned. Maria still served in the reserves and John was the only spartan fighting on Earth at that time.

They’ve always been able to have kids. Having a repressed -Yoink!- drive doesn’t mean you can’t have kids, it just means you don’t want to have -Yoink!-. You do realize that -Yoink!- can be surgically injected into eggs, even in the 21st century right?

I’m actually confused about how some people misunderstand what got said about it in The Fall of Reach ^^’ It was always pretty clear that it was only a potential, although fairly likely, side affect of one of the augmentations. Not every Spartan would necessarily wind up with a reduced -Yoink!- drive, and even if they did, the severity of its reduction would have a fairly wide margin. Like some could wind up with absolutely none, and for others it might be barely even reduced to the point that you could say it didn’t affect them at all. And you can still have kids even if you don’t have a -Yoink!- drive you know :stuck_out_tongue: There’s artificial insemination, and of course just deciding to have -Yoink!- anyway because you care about the person you’re in a relationship with, even if -Yoink!- is something that doesn’t matter to you at all.

And in regards to the OP and the whole subject of this thread, why is it so surprising that Spartan can have kids? I might be able to understand why someone would express surprise over them actually doing it, but is their ability to such a surprise or even big news?

can spartans get pregnant i mean their body changed but still

Let’s not revive very old topics, thanks
