all of this Join In Progress hate? dont come in here with the “its a cod feature. halo needs to be less like COD.” because it isnt a feature unique to COD, plenty of games used it long before COD did.
i get it, you dont like joining a losing match, fine.
but look at it from the team you just joined perspective, they were just down 1 or more players a second ago, im sure they are thrilled that they are no longer seriously outnumbered because one of their team-mates decided they would quit.
in a game where quitting was such an issue in previous titles i think JIP is a welcomed addition, considering that in the previous titles there was no way to make up for the lost player.
idk about anyone else but ive complained about not having JIP since Halo 3 (since i didnt play halo 2 online much) it seemed like it was something that was so necessary, especially when you had a team where it was youself another guy and hiss two guests, who a minute in quit the match leaving you with a 4-1 match.
IMO its a welcomed feature.
I just want an option to turn off JIP when I search. And people can join games in progress if they felt like being charitable.
It’s also a pretty big help in objective game types. Having 4v3 or 6v5 in CTF pretty much means you aren’t going to win. If even one more person quits, or if they were in a party, you are definitely going to lose without JIP.
Also…4v1 SWAT. Why does that even happen…we’ll never know, but having an even match before anyone gets a kill is grand.
I don’t think I have ever joined a game that was super close to being done, if I have…I don’t even notice. Even if the game does end soon, there’s a chance people will stick around so you don’t have to search for an eternity to find a new match.
Definitely agree with you OP.
This must be the same mindset 343i has.
The mindset that’s killing the Halo franchise.
JIP is the reason I will not play MM by myself anymore for the first time in halo history.
I hate being put into games that cant be won.
Just the other day, I decided “what the heck, i’ll give it 1 more go”
I get put into a match on ragnorak.
the score is 380-110 (im losing).
The other team has 2 mantis, 2 banshees, and snipers.
After dying once, I quit out.
Okay but that only happens once in a blue moon? no!!!
I constantly get and hear about being put into games that can’t be won. I’ve personally joined a game where it was 236 to 20 in a game of oddball.
I’ve joined games where there was only 1 round of flood left
I’ve joined games were yada yada more bs
HERES A GRAND IDEA. INSTEAD OF PUTTING IN MARTYRS FOR THE OTHER TEAM’S ENJOYMENT, WHY DOSN’T 343 JUST END GAMES IF THE MAJORITY OF ONE TEAM QUITS OUT. A team of 4 vs 8 people won’t win anyways in slayer. A team of 4, much less 2, vs 5 won’t win in objective.
Ok maybe in swat, 1 person could take on a team of 4 if they didn’t know how to spawn kill…
But seriously, save every person some grief and just end the game
Wow, how did you mess up spelling “seriously”?
Jip is a welcome addition.
But it needs some serious tweaking.
I don’t want to join a game to play for a minute, I don’t want to play a game where there’s no possibility of coming back at all.
Here is why I hate it.
Last game I joined I ran around for about 30-45 secs, got killed, game ended.
Fun times.

its late. I’ve been awake since 9:30 PM on the 14th and am currently working my 3rd shift between two jobs and have spent the time in between at a hospital(not for myself), forgive me for pressing one key out of order.

that is a terrible idea, there would be maybe 1/3 of the total games played that would actually end as a full game.

Weeellllll…ok. Just don’t do it again!
I honestly like the idea of a Halo game having a JiP system as it takes less time to find a match, but usually the match that you join is already halfway through and you are losing by an incredible amount. If they were to make the JiP optional that would be fantastic, or atleast make it so you cannot join a game once it reached a certain point.

yeah it saves us time and grief which is the point.
and obviously sherlock it isn’t the best idea, but it is damn better than putting innocent players into a situation where they are just going to get slaughtered.
