Rank could not be expressed through calculating team wins, and individual performance? So, if you’re an awesome player, giving everything you’ve got and carrying your team, an you lose, too bad? And, if you aren’t very good, but you ride along the coat tails of awesome team members, hooray? We get it… team… Yes, we get it, but individual performance is not part of the equation?
You are correct
Stupid, isn’t it? Your rank is dependent on your team. Makes total sense! /s
I’m not 100% sure, but I think your individual performance is calculated in Champion ranking.
But I see your frustration. This is why I team up with my own people beforehand
Yes. I don’t belong in Platinum 6. I should be back to where I was in Plat 2-3, but my team keeps winning even though I go negative.
Still, I guess it’s better than everyone fighting for their own K/D.
It’s a team game. Just because you are da best at getting kills or whatever doesn’t mean you deserve the points if you can’t do teamwork.
Also that’s how it’s always worked

Not necessarily. Look back on the H2 ranking system. Sure, you lost, but your individual score allowed you to not lose as much in rank because you did perform better than others.

Personal skill should still be reflected by your personal rank. Doesn’t make sense that MY skill is determinant on how good or bad other people are.
Yes, it’s been in other games, but that doesn’t mean it’s the correct way to go about ranking.
If individual performance was at all a factor, even in the slightest, it would influence players to play with K/D in mind over trying to win. I play Halo because I enjoy teamwork and coordination. If I want to just pubstomp and play for K/D I’ll go play COD
Blah Blah Blah get over it. Communists really? It’s a bleeping video game.
Braz3d is spot on. I don’t care how many kills you get it is about the team. The best teams I have seen over the years never squabble over kill count. Everyone plays a role and controls a part of the map and they work as an effective unit. Those teams usually run train on everyone.
Props to you if you can average 30 kills a game but in the end it matters for naught if the team loses.
It is like LeBron dropping 50 and losing. Guarantee he would take 20 and 10 and win over 50 and a loss any day of the week.
I think your individual performance does play a role but your win/lose is like a multiplier to that. By default its an x1 personal stats, but they get more influence / less influence depending if you win or lose.

Halo has always been about team shooting. Especially at the higher levels.
I agree with the guy who said play FFA, which is all about the individual.

Thanks buddy.
I just wanted to remind you, you’re unstoppable, Steve.
No rank based on win/loss will EVER be representative of personal skill. Look at CSGO. You can be Legendary Eagle (like me), the fourth highest rank in the competitive matchmaking system, and still be absolute garbage, and have better players just carry you there. I’ve seen it happen multiple times. There needs to be a separate indicator for personal skill, based on YOUR stats, in addition to the normal rank for how you play in regards to teamwork, so that both people and the system knows how well you play, and how you work with a team. Because right now, you can go 25-7, and still get the 3 worst players in the game who go 4-15, and lose to a team who had one quitter, and your CSR rank is supposed to be indicative of YOUR skill? Not at all, it cannot be, and it never will be.
Its a TEAM game, ranked based playlists has always been about TEAMWORK.
By your logic i should be Global Elite in CSGO, the highest rank in Halo 5 etc etc.

He’s saying that personal performance should play some part in ranking, but not overtake wins/loss. In Halo 2, if you did pretty well but still lost, you wouldn’t take as big a hit to your rank as you would if you played poorly, but it was still largely based on win/loss.
Also, side note, rank in CSGO means nothing, because Valve’s system is easily exploited for boosting and cheating. I’m LE, have 1000+ hours, so I have a pretty good grasp on how it works.
I played with 3 firends in Team Slayer, SWAT and Breakout. We all won and lost the same but all got placed in different ranks. For example in SWAT I got diamond, friend 1 got diamond, friend 2 got platinum and friend 3 got Onyx. Individual performance is taken into account.
