so... random weapon spawns...

I honestly dont know what to think of this yet. On the one hand, it prevents that one jerk (there is one in every game) who grabs the sniper, uses it (poorly usually), and then waits on the spawn for 3 minutes for it to respawn. On the other hand, it takes away some of the strategy involved in Halo; so much strategy revolves around knowing when weapons spawn and how to get to the spawn fast.

I think that H4 is exchanging one type of skill for another. They are taking out, possibly for good, the part of the game that encourages players to “set up” on opponents, camping on weapon spawns while spawn killing opponents. On the other hand, it encourages team movement and fighting around objectives. The only thing that really concerns me is that weapon spawns will happen to occur more consistently on one side of the map, giving that team a consistent advantage.

What are your thoughts on weapon spawning? How will it change the game for the better, or the worst for that matter?

If they have dozens of weapon spawn locations for each map, and they spread the spawns out across the map then it should be ok.

The spawns could be made to fit the location. Small room or corridor? Short range weapon like the shotgun or needler. Open area with lots of cover? Sniper or laser.

Overall I think its better. Like you said stops that one guy from spawn camping for weapons. There’s no gurantee that he’ll receive the same weapon. He’s sitting waiting for sniper ammo and he gets a shotgun. Now he has to change the way he plays in order to get kills.

I think while being random (which gets rid of ppl standing on the sniper spawn for 3 minutes on hemorhage) it should have a system, a kind of predictibility to it. So you wouldnt always be clueless what to look for, but have an idea that you will find a cqc weapon here and a long range weapon there.

The bolded sentence is what is going to annoy me with random spawns. Random anything usually means it helps one team. Ever play a completely fair KotH game where the hill actually spawns around each team equally? It’s a very rare thing. I assume the same is going to happen with these random weapon spawns, whiiiich could mean the Engineer specialization could be more worthwhile?..

I remember that the spawns will be predictable for the first set since it’s the start of the match. After that I think that it will be random weapons in random places. I’m not sure on that though. My opinion is indifferent on the random weapon spawns though.
