So... Playable elites?

What if we had a thread that shows that we want elites back, just like how we wanted firefight. It could be apart of the firefight update as a “fan update” for the title which houses anything you guys want such as infection, ect

I could see it being okay in Firefight but still… Elites are taller than Spartans so it would look very weird.

Isn’t it against forum rules to talk about petitions

IDK. To have them, yes.

I’m all for playable elites. I think the odds are slim because of the req system. 343 would have to create a new set of Elite armors and helmets to unlock. This would be good for the people that everything unlocked already.

Wow, I never thought about that. I don’t really care either way about playable elites, but that’s a great point.

If we did get elites way more people would be up in arms about more REQs than be happy about it.

well in the other games the elites got the short end of the stick when it comes to customization so I guess we can get off with 5 or 6 reqs for elite customization

No, he’s wrong. You’re allowed to talk about petitions, this isn’t Russia. The rule is that you can’t make petitions in the forums.

It would only be permissible in Warzone, and even there I would prefer to not play against opponents with different hit boxes.

There is a reason that Elites were banned from professional matches in previous Halo games. They have different hit boxes which directly contradicts the competitive, “all players being equal” mantra that Halo 5 espouses.

Perhaps it would be permissible in matches where if you choose an Elite model, you are only matched against other Elites, but that again will greatly increase queue time which nobody wants.

That is a good point. Elites are bigger than Spartans… pretty solid logic. I wonder if they could add a negative padding to the Elites, where the hitbox would be identical to the Spartan even though they look bigger? I’m not sure exactly how this would translate into gameplay just a thought to throw out there.

You could balance it by hunching the elite’s neck over its body, or making it take more hits to kill a elite.

That unfortunately wouldn’t be possible either.

You want to see mass rage on these forums? Have players continuously not hit enemies with Elite player models because the hitbox is substantially smaller than the actual player model. You would essentially invalidate the majority of the Elite model as being a viable target because skilled players would only feel comfortable shooting the Elites dead center in the chest to guarantee shots actually registering.

The only way to introduce Elites to multiplayer, and maintain competitive integrity, is so make the player model, and corresponding hit box, identical…which largely negates the point of introducing Elites in the first place which is why 343 chose not to do it at all.

If only there was a thread…
