The multiplayer in this game is amazing and only needs a few kinks worked out. Mostly just balancing on some weapons. That isn’t the problem though… I spent ~70 matches completing all the event stuff and ridiculously random weekly challenges, where the stars and galaxies have the align, only to be slapped in the face with the “Get five killing sprees in fiesta” ultimate weekly challenge. It’s absolutely absurd and no amount of “git gud gg l2p” will save you. Personally, I don’t care about skins and whatnot, but I wanted to give it ONE try with this game. Got to that brick wall at the end, said I’m done and will likely not play much MP again. It’s probably one of the most toxic and predatory grind systems I’ve seen in a game yet.
Many, if not most, people are going to want to complete the weekly ultimate challenges due to the fear of missing out. Right now, as it stands, the challenge system is an absolute abomination and will absolutely make most players give up on the game entirely. It’s like that one annoying professor in college that gave you ridiculous 40h/week assignments and acted like their class was your only class. Devs have to realize that with players, it’s all or nothing for a lot of us. Either we will play the hell out of a game or we won’t. There are too many other options out there to try to act like you can trap us in like some bad gacha game preying on FOMO.
Devs also need to understand and fully comprehend the importance of F2P players, when making a F2P game or mode. The bandwagon effect can make or break a game. When people get on steam and check the player stats, or get on twitch and see how many people are watching a game, it influences the odds of them chosing to play or not play a game. Even if 9/10 F2P players never spend a dime, it keeps the whales around to make up for it because the game stays active and relevant. Nobody wants to bother wasting time and money on a dead game that nobody plays.
