I played this game for months without ever experiencing lag, but just lately, it seems to be happening all the time. I know it isn’t my connection (it doesn’t happen in any other game, or in 75% of Halo games) and I’ve seen pro players complaining about it in streams so it isn’t just me.
It seems to be that I play 3-4 games without issue, then I’ll get one where players are blinking in front of my eyes or I run up a flight of stairs only to lag out and be back at the bottom again, still running up them. Please sort it out 343.

It is ever since the update to remove region lock, previously you would likely play on EU servers if in the EU. You may get Americans playing too, but it would not be every game. Now we are regularly playing on US servers with up to a couple of seconds of lag we are at an unfair diasadvantage. It is no longer feasable to be competitive and is ruining the game for those outside of the US. Being unable to kill the enemy and constantly dying is not fun

Exactly this. It is rudiculous. I played us players constantly and it is painful. I got to onyx 1800 in ffa through so much blam and it was not fun at all. I wonder if i could have got closer to champ on the right servers. Being 2 shot before a guy even appears makes life extremely hard and so does not having shots registering. My kd has nosedived since region lock was removed, when before it skyrocketed when it was on. That makes life harder in ffa. With shots not all connecting i get kills stolen so often i always get 3 times the assists of everyone else (17 on a few occasions) and die when i really shouldnt be. I would say that every eu player is underranked as a result. I would say the lag can be at least half a second most of the time. Do 343 think us eu players are all jedi?

I didn’t know they’d done that. Simply no excuse for it, Microsoft have server centres all over the world, I shouldn’t need to connect to US to play Halo.
This wasn’t Microsoft this was 343i’s decision. I understand why they did it, as it reduces time waiting for a match and in the case of Australian players they were struggling to find any match at all enabled them to find games. The problem is by defaulting to the US servers, everyone outside of the US is at a disadvantage. I know COD got a lot of stick for their lag compensation not always working properly, but at least they recognised there was an issue.
I have heard rumour that the next update will introduce “matchmaking preferences.” However, I can find no official posting on it, nor can anyone say specifically what these preferences will include. Hopefully, there will be a region locked / region unlocked toggle to enable me to play without lag now, but as the number of players reduces remove region lock again to enable me to find a match.

Someone else said this, but since 343 seem to be ignoring complaints, I doubt it personally.

Thank you for this forum post! I literally only came on here to complain that since the update on Tuesday I have been experiencing lag in almost every match. Now I read the previous posts and I am in a slightly different situation. I am from the US and if what previous posters are saying is true, you’d think I shouldn’t have any lag at all but I do… and it is bad. It’s gotten to the point where I see it in almost every game now, my Spartan will lag with animations from grenade throws, people will run into a room and then lag back out of the room, etc. This is getting rather ridiculous. I can’t play if someone can see me first and get a few good shots off before on my screen I even see them.
Please fix 343, I love Halo but this isn’t fun.
Can we at least get a reply and some assurance this is being dealt with 343? I’ve just received a 60 minute ban because I’m having to quit out of unplayable games when the lag is so bad, I can’t move forward without jumping back and repeating the action over and over.
