So much for free updates?

Voices of war isn’t free it costs 10 bucks.

This is no different than paying for dlc. It’s way over priced in terms of what do I get for what I pay. I would of got more content for my money if it was dlc.

I was saying this is the kind of content updates we need, I was exited about this but now I’m not cause I’m not paying 10 bucks for just an anouncer. It’s not like I can just buy one of them.

It’s upsetting for sure. I’m definitely not paying for it, but it appears that the only thing you have to pay for is the voice pack, and the rest of it is free. So whatever I guess. I also think it’s funny that they’re selling this as a REQ pack and have previously said that all REQ items would be available in game without having to pay money.

In fairness, don’t they charge for the eSports skins?

Just another lie, it’s lie after lie after lie, so much of this stuff is lies, that if 343 gave us the truth, we probably wouldn’t believe it.

They eventually added them into the REQ pool I’m pretty sure.

Thing they might not realise too is the announcers voice has an effect on how people play. I learned that from titanfall male voices from my Titan or announcer (I can’t really remember exactly) helped me to play better.

I was thinking man as soon as I have Buck in my game im gonna be getting so many multikills and streaks.

Yes, but the voice pack doesn’t have outside organizations involved unlike the eSports skins. It could be that they have to pay the voice actors I guess though.

Maybe it’s just me, but I don’t see this as normal content for an update which is why I’m not too surprised we have to pay for it, but I think it could be cheaper and we should have a pay with REQ points option.

My main problem with it is that it’s essentially paid DLC. Which I guess(?) they never said there wouldn’t be paid DLC, just free content updates. At least it’s completely optional and probably the highest-tier of cosmetic. I’ll probably buy it, though.

That, and it seems to be a one-off thing. From the way it’s worded, they don’t intend on fully implementing a customizable-announcer feature, and don’t intend on releasing more voices.

In fairness it doesn’t compare to esport skins though I didn’t like that either cause it’s still content behind a paywall luckily they never had any thing I cared about getting.

You’re all overreacting. So very much that it’s downright sad.

I was thinking that too about esport being a seperate orginization so it was understandable.

If I could pay for 1 announcer 2.5 bucks would be my limit to just throwing money at it.

overreacting more like appropriate reaction I’d accuse you of underreaction.

We were told free updates. Updates, DLC, new content they’re basicly the same thing.

Yeah I’ve been playing Titanfall 2 and not having Sid as my Titan has drastically hurt my performance. I had to start using the Scorch (my worse Titan) to make up for my loses.

Uh-huh. Yeah I’m just going to copy paste what I said on r/Halo.

It’s $10 for a completely optional, cosmetic, never before feature seen in a Halo game made a year after the game launched with 343i having to contact three different voice actors to come in and record more audio for their game amidst the chaos of a video game voice actor strike. Yep. It’s a huge rip-off isn’t it?

Well technichally the arena aspect of the new voices is new but remember Reach? (get it?) Firefight voices, and Buck was one of them.

Firefight voices and Announcers are not the same thing. The amount of dialogue varies. You could have characters like Johnson who talked often. Or you had Six and his grunts and ‘Yes sir.’ And this wasn’t planned at launch like Reach’s firefight voices.

Why do people always say but it’s only cosmetic like that changes any thing about free updates?

It isn’t necassarily cosmetic either cause the announcer has an effect on how people play.

10 dollars is overpriced for what it is and I wouldnt want all of them, just 1 (not so optional).

A year after release is the other issue I can’t find games in my favorate playlists what use out of paying for it would I even get on a dying game.

  • Debatable - How? CoD’s Snoop Dog was like $3. This is a pack containing three voices. 3 + 3 = 9. - How does that support making it free? There’d be no point in owning it.

Or maybe they recorded the voices 2 years ago when they were finishing the game ?
Do’t forget we are talking about Microsoft, there is a lot of money on the table, and a lot of good people working to make money, so I bet someone planned this. I bet they have a dozen of options to make money, they just wait for the good timing. The ones who care about the Halo franchise are the developpers, the ones who care about profit are the manager and directors.

I’m just sad that it costs 10$. I mean, it is 1/6 of the price of the entire game… But just for 3 voices …

they’re getting more aggressive with the microtransactions
