I don’t understand how so many people can absolutely bash a game that they haven’t played. Every single gameplay video with commentary I’ve seen has mentioned how the game still feels like Halo, just with a new tweak to it. So if people who love Halo just as everyone else AND have played the game say that it still plays like Halo, why is everyone so gravely concerned? The fact that there is going to be a Beta is great news in itself. That means there will be an opportunity to test the game and give feedback before it’s launched, so it’s not like it will be like Halo 4 when we didn’t get to play it before we bought it.
[rant/][opinion/] I personally love what I’ve seen so far. Halo has easily been my favorite series since its release in 2001, and not just the games, but all of the books and comics as well. I consider myself to be a dedicated Halo fan, so I don’t want to see Halo become something it’s not. Some of the additions that have happened since 343i took control have bothered me too, but not to the point that I became so overwhelmed with disgust that I just needed to get online and damn 343i to the deepest pits of hell for ruining something that they are entitled to make changes to (I’m looking at you, Halo Waypoint Forum goers.) When I played Halo 4, I still felt like I was playing Halo. Did I necessarily love Sprint at every moment in the game? No. Did I agree with every armor ability in the game? No! But guess what I did? I just didn’t use those things! Simple as that! Other players out there enjoyed them, so why is my opinion on what 343i should do more valuable than theirs? Just because I’ve been with the franchise longer? (I’ll give you a hint: it’s not.) 343i needs to do things that attract new fans, because guess what? Halo launched 13 years ago. Most of the people who played it then are fully grown adults who probably don’t play it as much as the newly emerging gamers in the market. Does that mean 343i should just change Halo into something everyone can play and is good at? No! Because then it’s not Halo! But there needs to be compromise between new features and core mechanics. All I’m saying is people can be skeptical if they want, but they shouldn’t be calling for change on a game they haven’t even played yet. I know that there are a lot of people out there who want Halo to return to it’s “golden days” of the first three games, but each of them played incredibly different; the Master Chief collection has reminded me of that. While I still love the older Halo games, I can’t even imagine how terrible a game that played exactly like Halo 2 or 3 would do today if it was released as something else.
As someone who plays all sorts of FPS games, including CoD, I can say that Halo 5 doesn’t look like CoD to me at all. When Halo gives me the ability to spawn with a sniper that does more damage than someone else’s sniper and not be detected by radar, then I’ll consider it “CoD-ified.” But having a new zoom animation? Get over yourself! That’s just aesthetics! Wait til the Beta launches, play it, and then scrutinize it. [/opinion] /rant]
It does not matter that we haven’t played the game yet. From the video they showed we can see multiple things that are gamebreakers: Sprint, AAs, Clamber, ADs. Majority of halo fans do not want these things which is why Halo 4 died so quickly. There is no arguing this they are proven to be failures
I think what you mean is “the majority of Halo fans who use the Halo forums” don’t want these. AAs aren’t in the game. How is Clamber a game-breaker? Because you have a few extra feet of range when jumping? If anything it will just make you a target because you’ll have the short time period of being in the animation period that will leave you exposed, just like assassinations. Don’t like it? Don’t use it. Another things, ADS is not the same as Smart Scope unless you’re being a literal scumbag who’s saying “if you look down the sights of the gun, its ADS.” 343i has said multiple times that the Smart Scope feature does not affect aim in any way at all. It’s the same zoom mechanic with a different aesthetic appearance. Aesthetic change =/= gameplay change. Otherwise armor customization would’ve changed gameplay.
OP you will never win this argument. You could have this game releases with 500,000 players in matchmaking having fun, going to work and talking about how much fun they have, and these people would still be on the forums complaining.

You’re an Idiot. AAs arent in the game, equal starts for everyone, Clamber wasnt in any of the previous halos, Sprint has been balanced, but more may be required, and ADS isnt ADS at all, its Smart scope, the only thing that changes is a small amount of zoom, and a slightly small spread, which is also paired with descope. Do some research before you get on the hate train.

If it reaches 500k peak after a 1 year, I think most people would brand it a success. Bear in mind that this is still less than half of Halo 3’s during the same time period.

Halo 4 died so quick because no one wants to wait forever finding and setting up a match. You cant say these are game breakers when you haven’t played it yet. Watching and playing are very two different experiences.

lol after the way H4 turned out people have a right to be skeptical, you just sound mad that people voice their opinions on a game that they think will not be up to par.
I remember when people heard about the changes that were happening for Halo 4. Most people freaked out, it all sounded terrible. But then some people said “You haven’t even played it yet, give it a chance.” or “People who’ve played it say it’s feels like Halo.” So still skeptical they bought the game and tried it out. And we all know how that story ended.
But from what I’ve seen of Halo 5 it’s not the gameplay that throws me off as much as the sound. Why is there an alarm for everything and why are they all high pitched? With the audio cues for the shield alarm and hit indicator (why is that even a thing?!) alone I couldn’t be bothered to play the game without losing my mind.

Actually Halo 4 is the first Halo to incorporate IN mid game matches, where you can join a match that already started, they did it to re balance the teams from getting the people that quit the game. So I really don’t know why it really died so fast, not even Halo Reach. I remember when I watched the gameplay and say it’s going to be awesome, not awesome, so far for me I do say I only care about campaign at this point, I really don’t put my expectations so high on multiplayer anymore. I got bored really fast playing on Halo Infinity War games.

Not mad at all, just unsure how people can hate something they haven’t tested yet.

Because they’re irrational and are running off of emotions.

Then don’t say that you are ranting. Generally, ranters are mad. My bad for confusing you as being mad, but people still have a right to complain just like you do, regardless whether they have tested it or not.

Agreed, and thanks for the positive post. We need more of them.
Thank you, OP. Judging and damning a game that he not even had the beta out for us yet, much less released, is absolutely idiotic. There’s no beating around the bush here, that is idiotic. It boggles my mind that this is happening. I understand the reaction to MCC matchmaking, even if I think it’s an overreaction, but this is going of the deep end of the blind negativity that plagues these forums nowadays. I wish people like this would just cease being so annoying, but I know that can’t happen, because too many blindly jump on the bandwagon. It’s amazing I haven’t lost it…(sigh)
