so many people quit on urban wzff, why?

i had a game last month where there were more quitters than players. and EVERY game on urban ‘a player has left’ pops up 10 seconds in. yes urban can be a p.i.t.a but it really is do-able. why don’t more people stick around?

There are a lot of threads about how urban is ‘unwinnable’ or the like. I’d say it is possible some people have taken that to heart and are thus making it harder for the people who try to do the right thing.

because it is by far the worst and hardest map for WZFF.

it is too small so no matter where you are, prometheans will spawn right on top of you, yet somehow you still always spawn a 30 second sprint from any objective.

the defend objectives are absolutely the hardest on this map. there is no great path to build up speed in a vehicle to splatter because there is so much crap all over the road, and if you bring a vehicle in, inevitably one of the thousand spawns will spawn soldiers right on top of you. also the defend objectives spawn you much further away while the soldiers with splinter turrets spawn right on top of the objective.

it is also one of the worst culprits for three bosses spawning in the back of a base with way too many waves of minions to get to them.

i don’t like quitting matches, and i won’t if I’m in the middle of my night of gaming, but if I’m on the fence about playing another game and Urban pops up, it’ll convince me to turn the game off. but my overall record on this map is something like 1W-15L

i hear you on it being one of the worst maps. them concrete things suck balls when you try to mow ppl down. BUT a win on that map is AWESOME

I definitely agree it’s a difficult map, and a complete nightmare for any vehicles, especially scorpions and wraiths. But it’s sad to see players quit the map just out of spite for its reputation.

I love the map and never quit when I get it.

-Get Urban
-Choose starting weapons and about to spawn in
-See in the background waving lights
-Realise it’s teleporting soldiers
-Palmer tells us to defend the garage when we spawn in
-Prometheans have captured it halfway when we get there

Thanks Lasky.

Think this was fixed later on.
Either way, it has left a sour taste in my mind, and while I never played it fixed, got tired of WZFF from frustration, that map has a lot of issues already pointed out.

I mean, from the start that map has been nothing but trouble. It got pulled from Assault rotation for at least two month, I think, due to spawn issues. When it was reinstated again, it still had spawn issues.

That map should from the start have been inspired by Turf from Halo 2 and made in Warzone size, a maze map. Not an oversized tennis court.

On Topic: It is the WORST Warzone FF map.

Off Topic: Good Job 343i for making attack on Sanctum that is by far the BEST warzone map…i am now starting to think that 343i finally found out how to make good warzone map (beside battle of noctus) So GOOD JOB!!

I’ve only won 6 out of 47 games. Boss rotation with the 2 wardens I’ve never won.

Has anyone ever won with the 2 wardens outside? If so how or do you have a vid? The only times I’ve won is with the Wardens in the base.
Video Urban: Hannibal Mantis

Urban is one of the worst maps in rotation regardless of what you’re playing.

The ones outside are WAY easier than the ones inside.
Just spam a scorpion at them.

Double post because technology is great…

Tried that 41 times…lol. Banshees, Knights and 2 Wardens EMP’ing me at the same time = instant death…lol.

Because Urban represents most of the problems in Firefight.

I’ve won ~28% of my games on Urban. My next worst one is a 44% on Stormbreak, and my best is a 74% on Sanctum. See the heavy contrast here?

The map isn’t as big as Noctus, but the problem is the fact that Urban was clearly infantry based, since it’s used for Assault. The later levels of Firefight are clearly vehicle based. Good luck maneuvering a heavy vehicle around any of that rubble.

Very little overhead cover, mixed with Banshees and Phaetons tapping their shooting in order to kill you.

That round where you defend the Core up on the hill, and you’re across the map and they spawn on the Core, and even if you survive, a Wave of Knights spawn on the Core as well. It’s almost forcing you to grab a Ghost and run down everything else in order to make it on time.

Those Knights that spawn behind the Garage, making it even harder for heavy vehicles, on Round 5…

People going into Urban almost expect a loss, so why bother?

thats kinda the issue isn’t it? where is the good in designing a game type so hard that any win at all is awesome? i get that WZFF is supposed to be hard, hell I WANT it to be hard. but i also want to feel like i have a chance. and there are several objectives that come up on urban where its like, welp, might as well pack it in boys cuz this is impossible.

i don’t think most people are quitting based on reputation of the map. i think most people are quitting based on having several very frustrating experiences on it. sometimes it just feels like I’m just wasting good reqs and 15-20 minutes of my already limited amount of gaming time just to lose defending a Promethean core that never stood a chance.

I’ve won on Urban plenty of times… It’s Stormbreak (the snowy winter one) that is terrible for me. Never once have I won on that map. On round 3 I always get some bs like “Kill 10 Hunters” or “Kill 20 Knights” but it takes forever for the whole 10 or 20 of whatever to actually spawn in and it takes even longer for my team and I to kill them. I don’t believe I’ve ever made it past round 3 on Stormbreak.

WZ FF itself is very boring imo …Urban is impossible with increased spawn time

Urban is tough. I know many people have limited or no wins on it. Myself I’ve played 8 but haven’t won a single one.

Can’t remember all the issues as I don’t play WZFF that much. However I do recall that Defending the bases/core are really tough.

Also the two Mythic Wardens are incredibly difficult. Most of the time when I roll out a tank, it gets shredded by the ads within seconds. If by any chance, I survive and clear out the ads we usually have like a minute to take out both of them on full health. Warden’s consistent EMP attacks don’t help, they leave you combat ineffective.

I have, plenty of times (and lost plenty of times). What I normally do, and what catches me by surprise when I see team mates do the same thing, is spawn Scorpions. Usually paired with the Wheelman armor mod. You just have to watch out for those Wraith Ultras though, and the occasional Banshee fire.

I have not quit a game. I have not won a game in WZF on Urban, apparently neither have the quitters.
