@UrbaneRocket495 incorrect. After Halo 5 they said that they heard the community and will not be doing loot boxes or microtransactions in the next title. They then went to say later that everything in the game was going to be unlocked by just playing the game. This was all before it was revealed or even leaked that Infinite was going to a free to play model. After/during the multiplayer overview they changed that to you unlock things by playing the game and buying things and that you can’t buy things that you unlock for free. This is when everything went wrong and they started going down the wrong track and telling us half truths and misleading information. First it was either lies or original intent and then it turned to vague information to try and not alert everyone to what they were doing.
It would appear that the article 343i posted on waypoint that this article references no longer exists as the link just 404s. And it took a while to find that because when you go searching for “Halo Infinite No Microtransactions” it just wants to give you stuff about changes to the prices on infinite, the initial response to microtransactions in Infinite being very negative or about possibly adding them to MCC/confirming that they won’t be adding them.
yeah but so far it feels like a lot of it is just stuff from reach, most of the original stuff is in the events which i really hate. i just want to be able earn every thing without worrying about spending extra money or making the time to earn armor either.
Anyone that thought most cosmetics wouldn’t be locked behind a paywall in F2P game is delusional and has no one else to blame but themselves for believing otherwise.
Yes, a lot of customization is behind a paywall. But there ins’t a single gameplay content that is.
Everything we can do in this game is for free besides what we wear, because 343i knows that our looks isn’t necessary. However, that’s just another problem about them monetizing that.
They said that everything was going to be earned in game and that they wouldn’t have microtransactions. This was before it was revealed or leaked that Infinite was going to be f2p. Also I don’t recall 343i asking it’s “audience” if they’d like/want the game to become a f2p model. They just abruptly switched it and tried to suger coat the turd if a choice they made.
In my opinion all of Halo’s best items are free. I haven’t spent a dime on this game (Other than I did use a gift card I was given to buy a battle pass) and I have in my opinion and amazing armor.
Like if you think about it from a business standpoint 343 has to little pay walls. Not only did they give us a 30 tier FREE battle pass but they also have been releasing tons of events that give free cosmetics.
Halo isn’t really weaponizing FOMO. You have 2-3 weeks every event to spend about at most 3 hours of gaming to unlock everything. The only way you can miss that is if you don’t play Halo enough.
this was actually a real challenge for me because the game is so boring. i just couldnt be bothered to unlock the free stuff, i could hardly stand playing 3 matches because it all feels the same!!!
all i’ve ever heard is how op it is, it’s really good but i started picking up more weapons from the map and was doing pretty well, was actually having alot of fun!
