So little positivity

So I was thinking today how in gaming culture, we always criticize anything bad in the most negative ways, but we rarely praise the good things that happened. Looking back on it, aside from some minor server issues with multiplayer every now and then, halo 5 worked just fine at launch for me. Thanks 343.

Complaining causes change. Whether its valid or not is up for you to decide. Sometimes the -Yoinking!- is necessary.

Praising the good does nothing. Critiquing the bad leads to them changing the bad into hopefully making the good.

Complaining causes you to look like a crying little pansy, and everyone just tunes you out. Every gaming community has turned into this, and it’s sad. I literally just scroll through random posts thinking “12 year old… 12 year old… 12 year old…”.

Vocal minority.

People screaming about negative things will always seem louder than those who are content and enjoying a game.

2015, where games only have to work.
Let’s thank developers for releasing a product for money that actually works! Yay!

Lol I guess everyone should praise functioning games that’s ridiculous first off the game should be functional to begin with, have a purpose to be repayable and give off certain features another game won’t provide. Then there would be no point in buying other games if this one game has it all and there’s actually reasons to keep on playing without getting bored within weeks. A game fails when it requires friends or other people to enjoy the game.

Thanking someone for their product is a form of praise, so yes, people should praise games with good qualities.

Not entirely true…

Yeah, it’s pretty sad how having any standards held above that is considered “entitlement”.
> Every gaming community has turned into a bunch of whiners.
Not really. You guys must not visit enough gaming forums. I mean I’ll agree that the forums for Triple-AAA shooters are garbage, but there’s more games out there.
At any rate, criticism is important.

There’s criticism and then there’s complaining for the sake of complaining.

I’m okay with one of those.

I think a game just needs to find a balance. A sweet spot that can appeal to most. You can’t possibly make everyone happy because we all have different preferences. Shoot for the middle and expect some to like and some to complain. Its just seems tipped in the complaint direction here because this is the most obvious place to get the game creators attention.

complaining often leads to change in the favor of only those who complain the most and loudest sometimes as well…

There are valid complaints with Halo 5, but half of them are just noise.

People complain because they want things to change. If you only praise the good and pretend their is nothing bad then the future games will ONLY get worse.

Also you are thanking them for providing a working game. Regardless of the quality. If somebody served you some chicken that gave you serious food poisoning are you going to praise them for the fact that they gave you a plate that actually had chicken on it? And say nothing about the fact that they gave you food poisoning?

I guess complaining at least shows people care which is a good thing. I think 343 have made an excellent game, problems are fixable, and the future is bright.

Remember when people use to play games for fun? now it’s all a popularity contest where you have to play the games everyone else is playing and hate on the games that the ‘cool’ kids are hating on.
