So let's talk about Gametypes....

Personally, it is time to invent new gametypes that can possibly seem fun to play or be competitive. Now with this, we want previous gametypes that were clearly left out of Halo 4.

Halo 5: Guardians should include the following gametypes.

Slayer
-Team Slayer
-Last Man Standing - Team/FFA (limited lives, kill your opponents)
-FFA
VIP
-One Sided VIP
-Escort
-Influential VIP
Race (intense race maps needed)
-Race (Based looped Race track)
-Destination (A point A to point B race, first to reach the end goal wins)
Rocket Race
CTF
-One Flag
-Neutral Flag
-Multi Flag
-Attrition Flag
Assault
-Neutral Bomb
-One Bomb
-Attrition Bomb
-Assault
Invasion (Spartan vs Spartan, Elite vs Elite, Spartan vs Elite, and more game modes added to Invasion like CTF, Territories, Assault, Extraction, Core, etc.)
Extraction
Infection
-Infection
-Save One Bullet
-Alpha Zombie
-Hide and Seek
Flood (Make is different and not a Infection knockoff, needs to be more scarier, the Flood forms in Halo 4 were perfect and the noise was great because not only it sounds funny and comical but it fit the part)
Juggernaut
-Juggernaut
-Mad Dash
-Ninjanaut
KOTH
-Mosh Pit
-Team King
-Crazy King
Oddball
-Oddball
-Team Oddball
-Lowball
-Ninjaball
Stockpile
Insane
-Chess
-Racketball
Headhunter
Dominion
Grifball
Ricochet
Territories
-Territories
-Land Grab
-Flag Rally

I’m sure there are more ideas to throw in the mix but this is all I can remember at the time, what good and interesting gametypes would you give to 343i to add in for Halo 5 Guardians?

And please guys be logical.

Gun Game seems like a good fit for Halo. Or a gametype with permanent deaths (it’d obviously be round-based).

I’d really like to see headhunter comeback. personally I always voted for it and loved playing it. I thought it was challenging. stockpile and juggernaut were good ones too. I really liked invasion too that could be challenging and required team work. I liked how you had 3 different objectives to do.

team stickies and dodgeball should make a comeback for the actionsack playlist. good times.

forget what it was called but, lasertag or big splockets? the one where everyone had a laser and rockets. people dying everywhere, total carnage, and chaos. it was funny to get on a mongoose and see how long before you died haha.

Yea, I agree and I would like to see more variety when it comes to gametypes because of you get the same repetitive map and gametype, then it become stale and none enjoyable. Personally I didnt like Halo 4’s map cycling, too many maps that popped up and the gametypes followed very close to that as well.

If at most it needs to either return to how Halo 3’s was, with the veto system or Halo Reach’s but then again Halo Reach;s involved people picking their maps and not letting those others to chose their favorite maps. maybe the system needs to be like this.

You enter MM and are just partied up with players. From there you persist to get your map but it gets overruled by everyone elses so instead of playing their map they chose, the game throws you in a group of other players that chose not only the same map but gametype as well. Sounds too much I know but just a thought.

I would mostly like to see all the gametypes being used somehow.

So long as I get Invasion Slayer back…mmm, team progression…

The only gametype I can think about is a kind of Invasion spin off where each team has a base on the map and then scattered around the maps are other bases (think Dominion) and that the game progresses through 3 stages based on time or kills, with each stage giving better weaponry, items, and vehicles.

Winning would be at 250 team kills (which would take friggin’ forever or turn into a time match) OR the team could destroy or capture the enemy base either with a full-out siege or some sneaky stealth tactics.

Maybe call it Siege or Invasion Assault or whatever.

Yea and I am sure there are ways to improve gametypes as well. It would not hurt to try and see about all of this.

I would personally love a larger scale game type akin to Battlefield’s Rush game mode. On a more reasonable approach that falls in line with older game types, Kill Zone- players earn points by killing others while controlling a “kill zone”. If I control a zone, and kill another player I earn a point, if I am not in a zone, I do not. This might be too similar to KOtH but I’m struggling to think of another.

Vehicular Combat (it might need a cooler name)

  • very large maps (cuz xbone can do it)
  • larger player capacity (cuz xbone can do it)
  • the big brother to BTB and Team Heavies
  • vehicle (and maybe map control) focus

(Now we have seen all these vehicles in MP before so don’t tell me that it is impossible.)

Plenty o’ Vehicles
-Hogs, Choppers, Revenants, Ghosts,Etc.
-Scorpions/Wraith

Larger Vehicles
-Elephant
-Pelican/Phantom
-other large vehicles
(these, besides the Elephant, have never really been accessible in MP but we have seen them.)

Aircraft
-Falcon
-Hornet
-Banshee
-maybe some new aircraft

  • some type of central base to hold as an objective
    OR
  • smaller side bases for map control

Just my thoughts…

I am not asking for Mammoths or Scarabs… that might not happen for a very long time… if ever.

Can I haz Pelican?

Invasion sounds great. Spartan vs spartan, maybe supporting loadouts.

Really a more flexible objective game creation. If we have forge I’d like to see asymmetrical objectives… 1 team is capturing a flag while the other is trying to take territories… Etc.

I definitely want Invasion back.

So, full disclosure before I proceed; I didn’t really touch multiplayer until H4 and Reach, so some of these insomnia-fueled ideas may have already existed at some point in time.

Hand Cannons
Cannons, now in convenient pocket-sizes!

Probably best suited for Action Sack, your only weapon choices are the magnum and plasma pistol. The magnum, however, behaves like a rocket launcher while the plasma pistol behaves like a Fuel Rod Gun (charged shots work like a Wraith’s mortar).

Just Like the Movies!
Hollywood doesn’t know how gun fights work and neither does this game!

Sprint disabled, but base movement speed increased by 10%. No weapon drops/pickup, only loadout is dual magnums with bottomless clips. Only ability is the Evade elites used in Reach.

Predators
They like the heat, the conflict…they hunt men for sport.

Slayer variant with three teams (red/blue/whatever), 3/3/2 (BTB variant is 6/6/4). Red and blue teams have radar disabled, no special abilities. Typical kill everything that isn’t on your team, select whatever loadout you want. Weapon pickup is enabled.

The third team, the predators, are Elites. They have permanent active camo, 5% increased movement speed, radar enabled, but weapon pickup is disabled and vehicle use is prohibited. Their loadout is the Scattershot and Energy Sword (BTB variant has a second loadout option with a railgun and energy sword).

Grunt Match!
Admit it; you’ve always wanted to be one of these little guys!

Slayer variant where each team is made into Grunts (red and blue). Loadout weapons are plasma pistol and grenades or a needler. Special ability is the Grunt suicide rush; activate both grenades and go running headlong at your enemy.

Jackal and Hyde!
This is my shield; there are many like it, but this one is mine.

Similar to Grunt Match, each team plays as Jackals. The Shield is your special ability; switch it off to sprint or use a beam rifle/needle rifle. Loadout weapons are needle rifle/plasma pistol or needle rifle/needler. Game should work kinda like team snipers, but with more options for close range by virtue of the shields and needlers.

Covie Throwdown!
Rival Covenant factions are vying for supremacy! Whoever wins…we win, because they’re killing each other!

Players will randomly spawn and respawn as a Grunt, Jackal, Elite, or even a Hunter in this slayer variant. Weapon pickup is enabled. On larger maps, there can be Ghosts to play with as well.

So much yes to gametypes with lives.
I’d also like a “search&destroy” turn-based gametype, with a bomb.

Well there are lots of ideas rolling in and I can agree that a lot of them can make the next game even better. So let put what we have and try to make the best and introduce newer gametypes for MM.

Mammoth vs Scarab
Capture objectives to launch missiles. When the opposing vehicle is damaged enough, board it, take control and win the game. Much like Battlefield 4’s carrier assault
8v8 (maybe 10v10?)

> Gun Game seems like a good fit for Halo. Or a gametype with permanent deaths (it’d obviously be round-based).

I’d like to see it based around the CS Gungame (I’m not sure how it is in CoD). It should start off with a (maybe slightly buffed) plasma pistol, and end with a frag grenade and then an assassination on the last two levels. Speaking of which, assassinations should be the Halo equivalent of CS’ knife kills (you go up one level even if you’ve already gained one that round, and they go down a level), but to make it work for this, they may need to remove the radar from it. (Oh, and getting an assassination won’t move you up if you’re on the grenade level, it will only give you one more grenade if you don’t have one.)

Also, I’d like to see it based around this one server’s gungame, where after getting your gun kill in a round, you can only use melees afterward. This was one of the most fun game modes I’ve played by far, but I’d also be okay with them doing the regular mode, Turbo, Deathmatch, Turbo Deathmatch, etc.

I don’t know why I keep suggesting these things, I guess I’m just being hopeful.

OH, AND YOU GET A SPEED BOOST IF YOU GET A TRIPLE LEVEL IN A ROUND.

Honestly, I would love to see Invasion return.

It is necessary the fan favorite gametypes return. I was disappointed when some of them, like race, assault or invasion were not included in Halo 4. As for there being so many different gametypes, I would say keep it simple with maybe two variants of each, and then make sure there is enough customization for the players to create more great variants for custom games. This is what made custom games so fun.

Agree, thats where insane came from, so I say all for it but al least bring back ALL gametypes, and then from there decide on what goes where in MM and what doesnt.
