Look at GOW, great arena shooter, died 3 months after release.
People dont want arena shooters anymore, they are boring, predictable, and do not offer dynamic gameplay. if it was up to me, the only weapon in multiplayer would be the BR
You know guys if it was the same game like Halo 3 with only improved graphics and new campaign it wouldn’t be fun anymore. I do not accept all the changes 343 is processing, for instance i do not want instant spawns or weapon skins , but most thing i see so far are good for the MM. Of course that’s my opinion.
Halo is in a -Yoink!- if do, -Yoink!- if you don’t situation right now.
Reverting back to CE/2 will be good for us vets for nostalgia and fast kill times but this will be seen as a negative aspect by others outside this community (and reviewers no less) as things like AAs and Sprint are now a part of Halo (which is why 343 is choosing to go forward with them in toe).
If Halo continues to introduce new things to formula, most vets will denounce Halo 4 as satans spawn of the video game world but at the same time, the series does not stagnate and instead progresses earning praise from reviewers and gamers in general.
However i would like a combination of the two. Fast kill times, an actual balanced sandbox, moon jumps, wickedly smooth strafes/movement, and new ideas introduced in the series.

I agree - I loved Halo because it was a pure arena shooter and that is what separated it from other titles/franchises. With Halo 4 it looks like I’ll be waiting until the game is released and see how the community reacts. At best I’ll buy it a month or so after launch. At worst I’ll get it used after the holiday is over or never play it again.
Reach was bad enough to force me to hesitate over any future Halo game.
I dont think you fully understand how these things are going to work in Halo 4. Most of them are just there to keep the player interested and allow them the uniquely customize their weapons. Here are some posts from Frank O’Connor that explain how these innovations will work in the game

In some game modes and playlists, not all.
The key is in implementation.
Seriously, how anyone can garner that much information about Halo 4 and yet not understand that the implementation and context hasn’t been explained at all is beyond me.
And if that causes certain people to leave Halo… my guess is that this community will only be healthier for it.
I love the fact that we have custom classes now. There is nothing wrong with choosing to start with a BR, DMR, or AR then picking up one of the ones you didn’t spawn off map if you want too. Cuz I don’t know about you guys but AR starts pissed me off in Halo 3 and Reach, now I don’t have to worry about that as I get to start with the BR or DMR.

They are not on the map. The only way you could pick up the other one is off of a dead body. There are going to be NO weapons on the map anymore except for the ordnance drops.

I am with you on this and i thought i was the only glad i don’t have to pick Water Gun starts again and start off with utility. I hate AR starts on Highlands and big maps >.< Now players who prefer Water Guns on big maps can choose that and we can snipe them DMRs as they burst fire and miss (okay i am not being mean here, just playing around xD).
Of course, i am bit concerned as far balance goes with loadouts, specializations, and AAs. I’ll have to see more but 343 has to tread this ground very carefully and implement the ideas correctly. (unlike Bungie).

What’s wrong with weapon skins? You’re saying you WOULDN’T want a pin-up of a grunt on the side of your DMR?
What’s wrong with perks? They add more depth and added incentive, two things Reach severely lacked.
Unlock-able weapons honestly sound meh too me…but then again, do I really want a bunch of clueless idiots running around with the BR saying how much of a good weapon it is? Of course not. Everyone should have a different weapon, and this helps with that.
Instant re-spawn is a godsend, as long as you spawn far away. If you betray your teammate however, that should have a 10 second wait, just as before.
AA’s are rad as hell and you know it. The only people I think who truly don’t like them, are those who just want Quake 3 with ein BR. They don’t make Quake anymore for a reason; arena games are boring as -Yoink- compared to slower, more tactical games. People like being scared while playing games, you don’t get scared in arena shooters, just either pissed off (EX: SHEIßE! DU QUATSCHKOPF!), or severely bored. They were fun 15 years ago, but games have to evolve, or else they die…you get the picture. Don’t fret though, you can always just play custom games with arena settings. So really, everyone should buy Halo 4, it offers whatever you want, so stop whining plz kthxbai

I’m concerned about balance as well but if it works out, it will be a nice addition to the game.

Gears 3 isn’t that high on the charts. Sad but true even Reach is beating gears. Of course…popularity isn’t everything i suppose.
The gears community has always been smaller but more focused competitively. I guess that’s the tradeoff.
Halo has simply evolved.
Games move forward.
I would be mad pissed if 343i packaged me up a Halo 3 knock off.
I wanted exactly what 343i seem to be delivering.
Makes me mad how so many people instantly shoot down anything 343i do.
Give em a break already.
