I thought playing Halo 4 for a long time online and thus also finishing every Halo game in the saga will give me an edge in Halo 5’s multiplayer… sadly this is not the case.
My first mistake, because of smart-link, I attempted to play the game like Call of Duty. Never making that mistake again.
My main problem is, I’m shooting the hell out of whoever I can, but I just keep getting killed. I currently use the assault rifle and Battle Rifle.
Please, any tips you can provide to cure my sickening K/D ratio will be much appreciated.
Well each Halo is different from one another so whether you’re good at one of the previous won’t automatically make you good at this one. Honestly, I think Halo 5 is deceptively simple but is difficult to master like Halo 1/2 IMO. As far as getting better, I would honestly say don’t focus so much on getting a kill as much as staying alive. Trust your team, call out and hopefully they will be helpful. Otherwise, you’re going to get run over like I do at times. Use thrust to your advantage as well, whether to get someone to miss their shot or to hide behind cover while being shot. Hopefully that helps you. I’m sure others will have a lot more to contribute, I’m just super exhausted right now lol. Good luck!
Play with a team, get good. (Only listen to the first part)

Thanks guys!!! I guess I need to start getting used to the thrusters and the weapon locations !
Don’t let the hate mail get you down if (when) you ever get it. And you will eventually get it. Sticking to corners and walls and such helps, use precision weapons and aim for the head.
And don’t make my mistake of juggling games. If you play Halo 5, then go to Halo 3, then to Reach (10/10 btw) all within a 48 hour period you will likely get wrecked on Halo 5.
Teams help a ton. The magnum can be your best friend
If all else fails, avoid skill and spam grenades.
Just takes time. Watch how the pros play and learn from that.

I was thinking of going Battle Rifle and Magnum. Apparently it’s really good. Thanks for the tips!!!
Damn, the Halo fanbase is pretty mature here.

The best tip I can give you is that there is safety in numbers, try not to get isolated from the team, the more guns the quicker the kills.

I think that’s my problem. I need to start following/sticking with the team members.
Try playing BTB for a bit of practice. Its not as competitive and the maps tend to be bigger, so you can familiarize yourself with the BR a bit better. Plus try and stick with teammates and not rush into fights, pacing yourself and getting the first shots off will tend to give a big advantage

I used to get caught on my own all the time, especially in Halo 3. Halo does not play like other shooters. Team work is advised, even if you solo queue, follow or stay near the team.

Waypoint fan base is great place to come, and we are glad to have you. The in game fan base though…
We don’t talk about those people. And BR/Magnum is a great combo, I rely on it myself. DMR/Magnum is another. Great for when you run out of ammo and need a quick headshot.
Have you tried changing the look sensitivity?
That helped me.
Arena can be cruel. The only arena I’m playing is SWAT to get the season rank pack and burn good boosts. I’m sticking with WZFF for the long haul.

I like SWAT and breakout (when no super fiesta). Both really force you to improve your aim/reaction speed. Most of the time though, I play warzone firefight or assault.
Put your search preference to expanded, a lot of novices will be in the match with you that way.
If you’ve got a group of people to play with, go in custom games and practice with them, so then you’ll get used to everything.
Don’t go just long range weapons, they suck at close range when you need an ar, try using thrusters to evade grenades and anything else if you can. The ttk is shorter, whether you view this as plain awesome or completely stupid is up to you but it means faster kills and faster deaths. Most close range guns have a bullet damage drop-off so using a short range weapon in bursts only hinders yourself. Those are my basic tips and hope you can use them to good use
It’s just a matter of learning how the game works, you have to get stomped on a few times, before you can learn how the game works, and thus get better. Plus, smart scope is just an aiming animation that increases distance but decreases accuracy on automatic weapons.

On the other hand you just might be thrown into the mix with seasoned players. That’s why I keep my search preference in focused.
