So it’s still a beta… but what does that mean?

So with the early release it’s confusing if it’s the full multiplayer or just a live beta while things are being cleaned up for the full release.

Major gameplay elements won’t change I get that but like will a day 1 patch add maps? Are they planning to add additional playlist options? Are the weapons moving on maps just to test what works the best? Maybe they’ll adjust collision based on feedback? Like how much of this is a raw early version and how much of it is done- and will get standard super slow live support for any changes.

With this weird rollout where it’s kinda the full game but also still called a beta it’s hard to know what to expect on the official release day.

I ask because as it stands today- as much as I’m a long term halo fan I feel this game won’t have legs to stay relevant through Christmas let alone the forge release.

I admittedly haven’t been super up to date with everything 343 has put out so if there’s anything to read on this a link would be awesome. If not any thoughts or predictions?

I suspect they are using this as a large scale beta to get some last minute tweaking done and to test the network.

from the email
"begin your Spartan journey today! With the launch of Halo Infinite’s multiplayer beta, Season 1: Heroes of Reach has officially kicked off. Its Premium Battle Pass features over 100 unlocks ranging from armor coatings, to helmets, to special Halo: Reach armor kits – and more! Even better, all of your progress carries over when Halo Infinite officially launches on December 8, 2021 and the pass will never expire

From now until Monday, November 22, you can log into Halo Infinite to earn exclusive in-game 20th Anniversary rewards.

Mark your calendars, Spartans – because it’s nearly time to rally in and unleash your inner Samurai! Halo Infinite’s first free multiplayer event, Fracture: Tenrai, kicks off on November 23."

some mixed messaging as to when/if it ends though.

I feel like “Pre-release” would have been a better word to use than Beta. But even then I am not sure if that is appropriate either. Hopefully they release a roadmap of what they have planned for the next few months soon™.

Man they don’t even advertise the gameplay. Just come pay us for stuff!

Thanks for the reply. I had read that email and I guess that’s partially where my confusion comes from. They call it a beta and say that there is an ‘official release’ still but everything else that is communicated seems like this is the full game. Progress carries over including ranked play standings. There’s limited time events already happening before official release- I swear I read some place official that all maps are launched- I guess is there any hope for a big change with the official release or is it just going to be “we hear you…”

Interesting observation, the marketing is not really there, I see a post or two saying that you can play it, past that, all marketing is directed back towards MCC, that tells me that even they don’t fully stand behind their release at the moment…

Just an observation.
