All this talked about “feeling like Halo” and the whole set up feels like Activision/CoD.
343 if I want to buy CoD games there are plenty of them out there to do that. Halo is supposed to be unique, a game that separates itself from the rest and you went the complete opposite.
I’ll most likely will buy the campaign, and I am looking forward to the forge world to see what new toys I’ll get to play with, but you are better than this…

Agreed. As I stated in previous posts, this challenged-based progression system doesn’t work with Halo. In ANY Halo game for that matter. The system they had from MCC was a great balance, and possibly the best one they could have. But instead of reusing it, they completely removed it in favor of using challenges (Which are also in MCC) for sole XP! MCC’s progression system was a staple, that should be brought back for Infinite.

So I am glad you brought this up, but these are implemented to keep a game going longer and add more content.
There needs to be incentive for the player, but also something fun for everyone.
Now clearly my opinion isn’t fun for most because people just like to buy a game and be done, but these seasons are implemented to also pay the developers who keep the game going. Now the one positive light I will bring up is that it isn’t a pay to win scenario.
These dlcs are purely cosmetic and optional for purchase. I don’t feel that this takes anything away from enjoying the game itself and provides more fun gameplay for fans to customize what they like, but also to give them incentive to keep playing hence the leveling battle pass.
But that’s just my take on it. The campaign is still great and has free unlockables for multiplayer as well! Have fun, hope my opinion is respectable and understood.

I don’t mind the season and I get that it helps with future content added to the game. That is the positive part about it, but Imo how it was implanted as the person said above doesn’t work for Halo. It’s as if they are treating the game like a looter shooter and Halo has never been one. Why attempt to treat the BP as if this game is a looter shooter other than to create that padded playtime?

Yes, they are just cosmetics that are optional to purchase, but going from what some of the previous games offered like Halo 5 rec points to the complete opposite was just wrong knowing what 343 claimed when it comes to customization. they basically said there were plenty of options for players that pay and the ones that don’t for day 1 that literally did not happen.

You feel it doesn’t affect the game’s experience, but it actually does knowing that incentive you are talking about 99.99% of it was literally put behind a paywall knowing this game is not a ( true f2p game.)

That’s definitely a fair point. Me: I just pay for battle pass and typically leave it at that. Sometimes I see something I like and pay a little extra, also not terrible.
As for Halo 5, I saw that they were nickel and diming everything to the point that I felt it was a bit on the nose because it gave people the option to pay for randomized card packs. That felt more of a pay wall issue.

Yes, they were, but it didn’t affect my experience when it came to being able to acquire gear, stance, Assassinations that will be put behind that paywall by the way, and anything else when it came to the customization. It didn’t make me feel I was being used as a cash cow as this game does.
We had options and knowing that ( players choice is an important thing in any game.) those options gave players that incentive to feel comfortable playing the game and more willing to support 343 when it comes to spending money on the shop.

Sound discussion. Yeah I just didn’t have the motivation to play it, but on infinite, I feel like I can play it without having a pressured option and they have season events too which is nice. It didn’t cost me a thing except my time to play it. Me and GF love infinite though.
I hardly feel like I’ve been throwing money at the screen myself.
Currently to get a good chunk of the cosmetic options you’ll spend $10 on the Battle Pass and considering the multiplayer is free while the campaign itself can come with the Game Pass, the most you’ll be throwing at the game is around $25 which is about a third of $60 - and that’s if you aren’t using the Game Pass already for the rest of the content it offers.
Now the temptations are certainly there in the Store and the skipping of Battle Pass levels, can’t deny that, but there’s been changes at least to the Progression where obtaining levels is far from what it used to be (needing to play like 20 games to get one level with the 50 XP Daily Challenge before compared to the six games with the Daily Challenges now) and the Store…if people want to spend that 20 bucks on the Iron Men or Cat Ears then people are going to get it. With the amount of cosmetics in the $10 Battle Pass, its the niche group of people who want those specific cosmetics and even then you’d have to spend $40 bucks in order to go past the typical $60 game price.
And I think we can see how limited the Store’s options are now as we’re seeing repeats of the same sales. Given the current heavy criticism of the Store I suspect that when we do get new additions there may be a reduction of prices - although even then I can’t say it’ll happen with utmost confidence so we’ll see.
Even with my Xbox Gift Card I got for Christmas I’ve only really spent like $10-$15 bucks of it at the Store for a couple charms and armor pieces in the cheaper bundles so for me I currently feel like I haven’t spent anywhere near that much.
I understand that and can see how others see things as you do. Just for me, I know what this company is actually capable of when it comes to what they can offer. It’s just a matter of whether they are willing or not.

Of course and it should be said that it should be taken into account of finances to the workers as well.
I know it’s a touchy subject of how people think games should be cheaper, but the cold reality is that they shouldve increases drastically a while back. The $70 price point with PS5 games is there for a reason. And sometimes that’s the price point for Xbox games too, but it’s because of the static $60 mark, developers seek dlc and micropay as a form of adding extra content to make more than just the $60 per copy which even if millions sell, may not make the quota.
The reason why making games is more expensive is because more goes into them nower days than they did 30-36 years ago. Better sound, better graphics, better everything. It takes a lot of work, programming, and development and a lot of gamers don’t think that it does and that’s also a real problem because so many gamers today take for granted what we could only dream of in our childhood.
So to me, no one can truly complain when before you didn’t have set price points and anyone could charge anything for a game that wasn’t even worth $60 let alone the $100s they were charging.
