So is the Halo 5 team A.I. good or bad?

In regards to the A.I.s of your team members—Fire Team Osiris and Blue Team—half of the opinions I’ve heard thus far claim that they could be better, and the other half claim they were competent. So which is it?

Personally, I’m against the idea that the A.I.s should be watered down as to not make them too over-powered, but that’s the point of Spartans: make them extremely efficient, almost never missing, and constantly using cover strategically. From what I’ve seen, you need to utilize the commands to have them be helpful. Or am I wrong? Are they good regardless of what you do?

They aren’t amazing when you let them do whatever, but when you give them commands they can be really effective even though not many people have seen it since the youtubers playing barely use them. Even so they are far better than anything from previous games because they actually use guns and vehicles as they are meant to be used and seem to have quite advanced pathfinding, unlike Reach, where Jorge/Carter/Kat would fire and then wait a few seconds before firing again or drive you off a cliff. I also have to disagree with the idea that AI’s should be too strong because they would end up playing the game for you.

Go and watch people commanding their friendly’s… They don’t like to attack targets that you tell them to for some reason.

Because you’re not their real dad.

LOL what?

I appreciate what they are from what I see personally both as a game play perspective and from lore backgrounds. The game can’t have these partners of ours demolishing the enemy, but at the same time stay competent enough for them to keep themselves alive and supportive of the players moves and commands.

This, I seen some where they actually use them by constantly giving commands and they preformed very well. Its all about how you use them.

In the leaked blue team gameplay a few months back, the AI was super good. But that was because the guy playing was a dev who actually utilized squad commands. They would Spartan charge and sprint around and lock down areas all on their own. If you don’t command them, they might kill a few guys on their own but you’ll usually just leave them behind. If you tell them where to go, they’ll sprint up next to you and duke it out with enemies. You just gotta know how to use them

It’s par for the course for Halo, though at least you can order your squad to -Yoink- off and stop shooting you in the back now.

No different than EVERY single 4 player coop shooter with AI.

I’m sure if well commanded they can do great things. That said, I could need to play all the campaign like 10 times to improve squad commands. I wouldn’t mind to play the campaign a couple more times.
