So is Locke dead? šŸ˜”

I know people haven’t been talking about this. Because it’s Locke and most people don’t care. But Locke nevertheless was still a good character. The reason we hated him was because he replaced Chief in Halo 5. I think he’s a cool character that shouldn’t be killed off immediately, just be put back in his place. Master Chief is the cover for the whole game, Fireteam Osiris and Red Team etc are secondary popular characters.

Considering what we hear on audio logs, I wouldn’t assume he’s dead.

As with basically any character that isn’t Chief, the Weapon, the Pilot, and any one specifically seen in the Campaign (Fireteam Osiris, Lasky, Palmer, Halsey, Blue Team, Red Team, Anders, Spirit of Fire, etc) we don’t know. However, I’d assume not.

I certainly haven’t gievn up hope based on the audiologs. Ever since the Tovarus/Hyperius MegaBloks leak last fall, I’ve considered him a goner, but after playing the campaign I don’t necessarily think he is dead. If he is, they completely glossed over it in a way that frankly just beggars belief. I haven’t heard any concrete evidence in the audio logs to suggest that he’s gone, either.

I think 343i is maintaining a major ambiguous stance on the fate of pretty much all the Reclaimer cast at this point- which, even as someone who really didn’t like Halo 4-5, I find to be frustrating. I think the core campaign tells an awesome story for the most part, but failing to address the fates of any of the characters who were so important in Halo 5- especially Lasky and Halsey, feels super iffy. You’d think Chief would make a bigger point of searching them out. The audiologs just emphasize that, IMO.

Hopefully we don’t have to wait too long for more story content on the campaign side of the game :man_shrugging:t2: Although my hopes aren’t too high on getting any next year, considering 343i will spend at least the better part of the first half of '22 playing catchup implementing Co-Op and Forge.

He’s dead for me. Nothing as disappointing as buying a Halo game and not being able to play as the Master Chief.

What about reach or ODST lol?

I hope so. Team Osiris was ultimate Crap.

That’s far from the reason he was hated, but okay.

Careful, you’ve questioned his dogmatic statement.

No reason to hate ODST, Reach, HW, and HW2.

Either way, the audio logs we find don’t seem to indicate it. Most likely, he’s probably doing what he does best: gathering intel, assessing enemy VIPs, and planning action. Zeta is a big ring and I wouldn’t be shocked if Locke later shows up with plenty of intel for Chief to knock off remaining Banished higher ups.

First of all, most people just didnt like Lock only because he was supposed to replace the Chief (atleast in some way) But also because of the way everything around him wasnt executed that well. He was written pretty generyc over all and didnt had alot going for him. With the enourmes amound of charkters they had to focus on it was clear that there were shortcomings but he was just pretty boring for the most part. Of course that whole replace the Chief thing didnt help him either.
But think about the Arbiter, he was hated alot aswell, however he served a purpose. He got you into the Covenent backstory and was written in an interesting way (a fallen Warlord on a suicide mission after losing his honour, uncovering the truth about his beliefs) He had alot going for him, wich lead to him becoming one of the most beloved Charakters in the Series.

Now to the part if he is dead. I dont think so and even if he is, we will get a story (propebly in a book) on how he went out and it is propably going to be with a bang, if he died at all.

However, with the few audio-logs i heard from the campaign im sure he wasnt on the Infinite. Like Blue Team he propably got assigned to another mission. Bucky for example left Osiris for a Mission in another Book, there is no reason to believe that doesnt count for him aswell. You can take that for every other charakter like Lasky (who actually mentions that he doesnt want alot of other spartans like blue team on the same mission, in an audiolog) and Palmer aswell. Just wait and stay hopefull ^^

No hate for Reach or ODST, I had a lot of fun with both. But Reach seems to have a following on these forums that I don’t think it deserves.

Bungie, all on their own, introduced loadouts like armor lock, which went a long way toward ruining multiplayer. People complain a lot about 343 and seem to forget that Bungie had a hand in sending the franchise down a path that ruined it for years.

Plus Reach had a dark tone which I felt was out of place in a game which traditionally is played by a lot of kids. My oldest son was pretty young at the time and I know he didn’t appreciate Reach’s new style of Halo storytelling.

There is no information about him, only an Audio, I still having the doubt why hyperius has his helmet and chest in his armor

So Reach was too dark…but the body horror parasites from CE weren’t? Hm.

The ending is pretty bleak, but the games have always been rated M. Sci-fi horror is in the blood of series, and Reach didn’t include that part of the DNA.
Halo handles it’s mature aspects pretty tastefully IMO, and is probably why it doesn’t seem like a mature title.
Flood are like a mix of Xenomorphs and the alien from The Thing +zombies, not really something most parents would want their kids exposed to.
In CE Chief survives, but in the context of that games ending, Chief is the soul survivor.
Cortana even says ā€œjust dust and echoes, we’re all that’s leftā€ which was never an uplifting ending for me. Good ending, but somber.

Kinda sounds like it. At first, based on the audio logs, it sounded like he was not on the infinity when it went down. But, in a youtube video titled ā€œSpartan Locke in Halo Infinite!ā€ it sounds like he is dead. The video shows a propaganda tower where the grunt says, ā€œMan, that Spartan Locke sure does know how to get ahead - which is why Hyperius used his helmet as arm decoration!ā€
