Lots of conflicting reports. Some point to a tweet by someone (on the development team?) that said Helioskrill is available in req packs. Others say they have not encountered it, and it is only attainable via MCC. So is it or is it ain’t? It would be great if someone associated with 343 could give a definitive answer.
It is available through REQ packs. I’m not associated with 343i, but every set of armor is available through the REQ system. You just need to be really lucky to get a Legendary.
I do have Helioskrill myself, but I obtained it via MCC.

Josh Holmes tweeted, before release, that “[all armor would be obtainable via req packs]”
But there are a ton of people whom have posted here and already unlocked everything they could. MARK VI, MARK VI [SCARRED], & Helioskrill were said to not be obtainable via Req packs by the community.
Nightfall armor can be though.
I’ve had everything for a month. No Helioskrill in a req pack. Maybe later in some special event. You can’t get it now.
What bothers me is that when you unlock it through mcc it doesn’t show that it’s unlocked in your collection. Maybe that’s just mine, but I want to see it unlocked and not just grayed out.
Every armor can be earned through REQ packs regardless, the only cosmetic items that can be called “exclusive” are a handful of emblems. Everything else is obtainable. It’s a shame… they might be extremely rare but it just doesn’t feel right. I think they should’ve made certain armors exclusive for those that bothered to get them in the first place, such as FOTUS or Helioskrill for example.
So, the answers are mixed. Any official confirmation aside from the tweet that many claim was wrong?

My friend has all other armors except Helioskrill. And he has all other permanent unlocks from gold packs, so Helioskrill is only available from MCC.

Look guys, I have EVERYTHING unlocked. Before I had everything unlocked, I was missing the following:
Helioskrill
Nightfall
Mark Vi [Gen1]
Mark Vi [Gen1] Scarred
Whenever I would open a REQ pack, ANY pack. It didn’t matter if it was Platinum, Gold, Silver, or Bronze…I would get REQ points back in return, NOT those armors. I had to go into the Master Chief Collection and earn those achievements to unlock those armors, which I did.
ALSO, a majority of the emblems are ONLY obtainable through commendation completion. Want to know how I know this…same way I know about the armor. There are also emblems only given to you once you reach a certain level, such as 152 (the highest).
People who think you can obtain everything through REQs are misguided…but go ahead, keep trying. Keep spending your 10,000 REQ points in hopes for Helioskrill when all you will get in return is 6,000 REQ points. Good luck.
Why not just get it through MCC? Legendary isn’t that hard.
Garbage armor anyways… There are way better armors than Helioskrill.

This. I also have everything unlocked and never got those armor sets myself. Every single pack I open gives back req points. Premium packs give a ton of req points when you finish everything. Gold packs cost only 4k req points (10k to get it, you get 6k back after opening each pack)

They say they’re all available, but they arent. I have every req. Gold packs give me 6000 RP return instead of anything new. Still no Helioskrill
