the only reason i say this is because SO MANY loyal halo fans are gone… ALMOST ALL vets are gone and don’t even play anymore. Not counting the MLG vets because they get payed to play…though i still feel sorry for them.
I think that if 343 does not go back to the core halo gameplay…Halo has on chance at all.

It’s definitely not dead, but its popularity has suffered a great deal due to the popularity of realistic games like CoD and Battlefield. I don’t think Halo will ever die, but I think it reached it’s peak popularity during the Halo 2 and Halo 3 eras. Halo 4 could make it the king of XBL again it honestly just depends on how it’s marketed.
I watched a couple of hours of TV last weekend and literally EVERY OTHER COMMERCIAL BREAK was for MW3. If 343 can appeal both to the hardcore fans, and casual fans, and spark interest in new gamers then they could win back the thrown of most played xbox live game.

You don’t have to appeal to casual fans. They play the game because of the name on the box.
In fact, they catered to casual fans already with Reach and it led to this problem. Serious players bailed and so did casuals because that is what casuals do–follow the new games as they come out.
All this concern for what casuals think has been the death of Halo. Just put a cool picture on the box and run a few TV commercials–done, casual player captured!
CS Lewis once said, “Live for just today and you lose it. Live for tomorrow (heaven) and you get today as well.” That is true of this as well. Design for the casual and you eventually lose him. Design for the committed player and you’ll get the casuals thrown in.
I disagree with halo being dead. i just dont think it a top game anymore. All we here about is gow, cod, and bf. If 343 is truly listening to the community, i think it has a got shot at being the best game out.
> Waypoint is becoming B.net more and more every day
It’s really trendy to say that, but with BS Angel doing active moderation I don’t see the similarities at all. This forum is way more focused and relevant than Bnet. Actually, the only post that has reminded me of Bnet lately was … yours, ha.

Really? There’s only so much a mod can moderate without going to far.
OP’s post for example. You can’t moderate that. But how can someone jump to a drastic conclusion like Halo being dead, especially after one so-so Halo release (Reach)?
That’s something you see in spades at B.net, a lot of the reason I moved here. Some people actually toss that around like they know what they mean but it’s true. Only after Halo 4’s release can really really say that Halo is dead.
Expect to see more of these threads in the future, man. Just sayin’
I will compare Halo to the Master Chief.
Halo is an epic enhanced super game. A wonderful universe and story, a community that really cares, and it is one of the top game franchises in gaming history. Yes, after a few setbacks (the entrance of CoD, Battlefeild, etc.) it has taken a beating. But its just tired, it needs time to recover. Its just in Cryo, waiting to emerge and kick @$$ at the perfect time. Halo isn’t dead, just resting. It’ll be back, trust me.

No problem. I was teasing you a little, not trying to be too harsh, ha.
I don’t see this thread as being irrelevant, given that Halo is for the first time #5 on XBL only a year after release. Also, I live on the west coast, and when I get on at night there are only like 28,000 players online. Halo being dead is a matter of opinion, but I’ve never seen such a drop off, and I can’t get into some games that I want to play because the populations are so low. There is lag, bad skill matching.
I would trust BS Angel. If a thread is alive, it has been looked over. Maybe you just don’t like the question being raised, because it’s depressing and possibly truer than we’d like it to be. At least there’s Anniversary to look forward to, new maps and classic playlists.
They could increase its name by adding a new playlist on COD MW3, get lots of people to see it, and people will have a demo to play with, get people interested and so more people will want to play it. First step in restarting the old Halo Glory days.
