Even if she was a Standard Marine at that point I wouldn’t find it plausible.
And do we even have any Lore about how she “supposedly” ranked up and got to be a Base Commander so quickly, because you’d reallllly have to have some impressive actions in combat to even be close to ranking up that quick that fast.
Like, it’s not even remotely believable that she would aquire the Expertise, Rank and Valor required to have the position of Base Commander by then as a non-augmented Soldier.
At least come up with plausible time-frames, just like how Master Chief floating in Space for six months and then arriving just in time to stop the Harbinger on the same day the Harbinger started to initiate the Reformation isn’t plausible timing either.
You want the Halo 4 lore dump version? There is no lore.
Halo Infinite takes place in 2560, 8 years after she was saved as a child. Simply 343 magic time skip fan fiction with no real depth at all. It’s impossible. She would have had to become an adult, go through training, and climb all the ranks, within 8 years. No way. She doesn’t even look 20. 343 needs to get their timelines straightened out. Nobody jumps from Recruit to Commander in a couple years of becoming an adult.
Also I just saw the Spartans that saved her were Mark VII Spartan IVs, in 2552, during Halo 3. What a miserable backstory full of plotholes and continuity errors.
Lmaooo, there is no way a person would go from being a civilian to Base Commander in 8 years, especially given the amount of Veterans from the Covenant War that woulda been experienced for the Position.
Halo 4 and 5 were already fanfic tier. Halo Infinite is a Halo Wars 2 fanfic. Wouldn’t be shocked if the pilot was a self insert character of a huge Master Chief fan
“That time I got reincarnated as Master Chief’s pilot and best friend”
The Campaign constantly had me questioning what the point of it was. The Banished gained nothing at all from capturing the FOBs and having prisoners instead of killing them. They just sacrificed their lives so the Harbinger of the newest ultimate life forms could make a phone call.
Awful plot. Made no sense the whole time. 343 also loves adding a newer bigger badder enemy each game. Always a bigger fish with 343. Halo 7 will be interdimensional time travel themed with alternate universe Master Chiefs in the Haloverse. Oh wait, that’s basically the whole concept of the Tenrai Fractures alternate universes.
The Halo Infinite story really has so many implausible facest that hurts the immersion.
Like a Brute like Escharum isn’t gonna be having word battles with Chief, he would just straight handle businesses drop a fleet in send out a few thousand troops etc.
True. The Elites kept Brutes prisoner for decades, because Brutes are known for being barbaric idiots, yet 343 expects us to believe Escharum and Atriox were some kind of tactical geniuses capable of commanding armies better than the Elites could. Come on. Why would the Covenant let the Brutes make the orders and lead the armies?
That’s probably why they were standing around out in the open not guarding anything, with pointless bases not doing anything, keeping prisoners instead of killing them, because Brutes are dumb.
Less than a day. Campaign only takes 3-5 hours. Chief wiped out the Banished leaders before lunch, unlike Bungie Halo games where it canonically takes weeks or longer to travel across the planet/ring, Infinite took place in a small neighborhood area out in the mountains. All the enemies were right down the street. A brisk morning hike for Chief. Easiest LASO in Halo history.
More likely the character was written quickly and they forgot about continuity. The only plausible reason how she became a Spartan Commander is that Spartan Commanders… aren’t all that special.
Remember, Carter’s a Spartan Commander of Noble team, and the team was formed when he’s only around 26 - 27 years old. As for her physical appearance, thank Halo’s Cryosleep technology. Master Chief is almost 50, but thanks to Cryo, he’s probably around mid 30s physically.
Was she really a child? She looked more like a very scrawny young adult in the trailer. And she definitely doesn’t look 40 in the present, more like mid 30s.
According to the lore and the Wiki, she was a child in 2552, and a Commander 8 years later in 2560. She just magically turned 18, and became Commander in a couple years, straight out of training. They must have put her in a hyperbolic time chamber, because she aged like crazy, and earned so many ranks in no time flat.
“Child” but never stated the age. So it’s possible the lore was just hastily written but the people who worked the models and such were told different details, as they needed more details to model the character. And they just ran with the first draft of her backstory anyway without checking.
We also kinda don’t know how Spartan ranks work tbh. Spartan Rank is a fictional rank with no real life counterpart, because it’s different from what the Spartan IIs and IIIs were using. S4s really do be weird when it comes to ranking and such.
Even if “child” could be interpreted as 15 to 17, she would be 23-25, still younger than Carter, and there were no significant wars after 2552. The Human and Covenant war ended with a peace treaty. Sure, some heretics broke it in Halo 4 because 343 just threw that out the window for no reason, making a faction of Elites that want to kill humans for no reason, after knowing the Prophet lied to them.
What could she have possibly done to rank up without wars?
It’s just really bad writing and continuity, because 343 can’t be bothered to just write a book of structured and cited lore before tossing a game together. The world building in 343 games is garbage.
Like I said, we don’t know how S4s even rank. Heck, they could even be ranking through War Games, like how we rank Spartans in H4/H5 you know? Shyt’s weird and I think it’s better off if 343 didn’t try to explain it because we all know it’s gonna poke their story full of holes and we’re gonna have a field day with that one.
If they need to rewrite Agryna’s early days lore, then so be it.
I’m glad I’m not the oy one that seems the glaring plot holes, along with Chief being in Crysleep and the pilot just happening to discover him right before the Harbinger is unleashed.
If Chief was in space a week or two and then after a few days you encounter the Harbinger it would be more believable
People have already tackled this too when the trailer first dropped. I remember people were debating if Agryna was really rescued during H3~ time period because the Spartans dropped were using Mk7 already which is really weird as heck.
And if it was much earlier in the Human-Covenant War when she was rescued, then she should have been rescued by Spartans all wearing identical MK5s.
The only logical fix for this is that Agryna was rescued much earlier, but the Spartans were wearing Mk7s to promote the MP, which is still a continuity error.
