So I'm reading the US OXM for June 2012...

I know there have been plenty of confused forum-goers such as myself lurking around to find any scrap of new info they could find- and after seeing that Black Ops 2 magazine cover with the a little badge in the corner reading “OMG! HALO 4 NEW MAPS NEW VILLIANS NEW HERO?!” I’m sure plenty of people were wondering why they haven’t found any info on it yet. So here you go guys- there’s not much to see here, as it is mostly the same stuff from the UK version of the magazine. But I DID find some things interesting.

#1- 343 industries actually has been taking elements of chief’s new design directly from the book The Fall of Reach comic.

#2- They listed a few weapons they played with- the Assault Carbine, DMG (yes, they said DMG. I laughed, as it is probably just the DMR and the author made a typo), Plasma Pistol, Magnum, and Battle Rifle. Weird that they didn’t mention the Assault Rifle.

#3- “The Jetpack is once again available FOR BOOSTED JUMPS” - yes that is what they said. It struck hope in my heart, maybe the jetpack is now a jump pack like most of us have been hoping for.

#4- Officially stated that Kenneth Scott wanted to make the grunts more viscious and scary ( A justification to their lack of methane mask)

So that’s it. Nothing too new, but I found the way the jetpack was described to be interesting. Don’t get your hopes up though! We’ll all see in 2 weeks at E3.

EDIT: The quote regarding the Jetpack possibly turning into a jump pack is simply speculation from a curious fan. Should NOT be intrepreted as an official confirmation, and was never meant to confuse anyone reading this thread.

OP WILL YOU MARRY ME?
YES!

  1. Interesting.

  2. Lulz DMG. Obvious typo is obvious. Author most likely meant DMR. Any specifics on the weapons or just names?

  3. Boosted jumps for derp packs? I think my eyes are deceiving me. It sounds less broken now. Sounds similar to a jump pack…

  4. It seems to be working, they seem much more different from past incarnations.

Thanks OP

Yes the Jump Pack idea is exciting, but do bear in mind that this info is coming from the guy who called the DMR a DMG. So don’t get your hopes too high
EDIT: Nope, there were no specifics on the weapons or how they work, unfortunately.

jump packs sounds much better

I am keeping my hopes reasonably high but unlike Reach, i am be carefully hyping up too much for Halo 4.

Ah i see, i was really looking forward to a little bit more information on the guns. Oh well.

There have been a lot of mentions of a “DMG” in several magazines, so I wouldn’t necessarily consider it to be a typo once again.

However, the jet pack sounding more like a jump pack is something I really like!

Maybe instead of DMR standing for Designated Marksman Rifle, they wanted it to be DMG- Designated Marksman Gun.

I don’t know if “DMG” is a typo, because in the English edition of OXM it also says “DMG” twice in different places and I don’t think they would have overlooked it that easily…

Edit:

That was what I thought, like people at OXM called it the DMG just… cuz, although I can’t see why they would call it that…

I hope its still the DMR.

For a silly reason of course. I still like calling that thing the Designated Marshmallow Roaster :P.

A jump pack you say?

My life now is truly complete…

They have said the DMG in other mags.
Designated Marksman Gun?
Something else entirely?
shrugs

Designated machine gun.

Jump pack!

Time to jump for joy!

> Designated machine gun.

duel machine gun

They don’t really tell much about Halo 4. They claim they want to bring the boom of Halo 1, so they gotta be pretty confident in their game. I am too.
If they don’t want to talk about H4 up until E3, well, they definitely got stuff to show.

The author also said they’d probably show what Requiem looks like in-game at E3.

Jet pack for “boosted jumps” you say!? A wave of relief just hit me.

R and G aren’t even that close to each other…

I want to believe.
