So if there are free earn able credits next season will the battle pass be free

I been wondering this for awhile

I’m assuming that the credits will only be available to the paid version of the battle pass. I haven’t seen anything either way yet though.

So you want to earn free credits AND get the battle pass for free?

Yeah, as much as I hate how predatory the monetization is, they do actually need to make money somehow. I think adding credits to the premium battle pass would be a nice way to incentivize people to buy it, and also gives players something to look forward to from a personal customization stand point as they progress the battle pass.

But the prices still need to come down regardless.

I’m still lost on how the higher-ups thought this new system was a “good thing”.

The system should have been set up as Halo 5 has it with the rec points. This would have held 343 word with a sense of value. Now because they literally lied about the customization in this beta among other things, their word isn’t worth deadly squat.

If not then we’ll add it to the list of disappointments

Most likely the battle pass will still be $10, but you will be able to probably earn 1000 credits, so you can buy the battle pass once, and get every battle pass after for free with the 1000 credits. Most games do this. They wouldn’t give you enough credits to buy out the shop. Just the minimum.

absolutely not. this time the battle pass will be 59.99 and you’ll be given a maximum of 2000 “free” credits split weekly over the entirety of season 2. also the store will be adjusted up 75% due to “inflation”

They could of made money by selling the game as a whole instead of this half and half 10 year rip off sugar honey ice tea.

I mean, they should have, but they didn’t. I’m just talking about how they could make the model they did end up using more appealing to people.

Unless i343 put out some info recently.
I question if the next Battlepass will have a free tier at all.

See, before release, it was said that the first Battlepass would be free.
Now, we technically did get it for free, but it’s very limited and have a “premium” side which cost money.

So, if only the first one is free, future battlepasses may as well be all paid, with a premium tier costing more.

There shouldn’t even be a BP or event BPs, everything should just have a linear progression from the customization tab and we earn XP, we spend XP on said cosmetics, or you can buy credits (with money) to get stuff faster

I expect the credits will only be earnable on the premium battle pass.

If so, I really hope it will be possible to save enough to get future battle passes for free and maybe the occasional store item.

Fortnite has a system like this and I think it’s pretty fair.

i think f2p players should have enough credits to buy the battlepass (or 2 battlepasses in season 2 since f2p players couldn’t buy season 1) by the end of the season. That way you’d still have to grind till the end of the season 2 battlepass in order to get 1000-2000 credits

Assuming that 343i follow the design of other BPs, a couple of free tiers will offer currency, but only ~25% of the total that the pass offers. But then again, nothing that 343i has done has followed the trends. They are reinventing the wheel at every turn, so who knows.

So will it be like halo 5 were you got credits for free and you could pay for them

I’d be fine if they handled the credits system like how Gears 5 eventually handled their earnable currency system. You have your paid currency which is iron and then you have the earnable currency which is gear coins you earn throughout that games version of a BP (you get a little bit of iron too but not nearly as much). Then after you finished that seasons BP, you still would “level up” your BP but it was just small continuous amounts of gear coins instead of new content. It still gave the sense of progression to the player after they were done the BP which in turn gave people more of a reason to play, at least for what I found anyways.

So basically if there was something in the store you wanted, the people who wanted to pay real money had a week exclusivity to the character/item for the first week, and then after the week is up you could use the earnable currency to buy said item. It’s still not a perfect system as you still wouldn’t be able to tell if someone played the game to unlock something or just forked out a bunch of money, but I think it’s the better of two evils compared to other games.

I just have a really big hunch that although 343 is making it that we will be able to earn credits throughout the BP, it’s not going to equate to very much. I could see them giving out around a total of a 1000 credits so you could buy the next BP, but if you put it towards anything else you’ll only be able to buy 1 or 2 bundles depending, so you still won’t really be able to get much in the store hence why I think Gears 5 has the better system in place and why I think Infinite should go that same route (especially since Gear 5 launched pretty similarly to how Infinite launched and they were able to change how their system worked)
