I’m sure many of you now know of how the art director for Halo 4 had changed his position due to location. And how his position has been filled with Sparth.
I’m well aware that GAF isnt always in the best light, but here and there we get some very good tidbits. And last night I noticed something that was said from Frankie himself during the conversation. Here’s the link for the thread itself. And here’s the link for the quote in question.
> > The graphics in Halo 4, both technically and artistically, were two of the strongest points IMO, and now both of them have left (well, one is sorta still there). Corrinne Yu is said to be the female John Carmack (in ability, not looks), so it’s no surprise Halo 4 is arguably the best looking console game last gen, but who will they hire for Halo 5 and Halo 6? The art seems to be in good hands with the new guy at least…

For those unaware, Stinkles is Frankie’s GAF account. He clearly states the engine for Halo 4 and 5. Confirming there is an engine going on for Halo 5, perhaps? To me that small little phrase translates into how Frankie acknowledges that Halo 5 exists. And more things than not point to ‘Halo Xbox One’ being that.
I could be horribly, horribly wrong. But it was something I felt needed to be pointed out.
I’m confused, why wouldn’t there be an engine for the next Halo game? It certainly can’t run on the current one, no prior game has done that. (ODST piggybacking on H3’s excepted.) Next gen means new engine, ground up, just like all prior games. That’s not really groundbreaking news to me.
That aside, I wouldn’t read too much into the “Halo 4 or 5” thing. I mean, we just had Halo 4 and the next game’s title hasn’t officially been released. Logic says it’s Halo 5 or it could be him being lazy. Who knows?

Correct me if wrong, but technically, each Halo game has been running on the same havok engine despite a generational gap between Xbox and 360. Just updated and retooled for better optimization with each title. And there hasnt been confirmation either way that the next game is no exception. I was under the impression as well that 343i may have been revamping the engine since the dev kits were being released years ago. I mean, Halo is MS’s most important IP, it makes sense that 343i would be one of the first devs to obtain the early kits. But until confirmation pops up, you just never know.
Lol, man I hate these info droughts.
Each game has gotten an engine that’s been rebuilt from the ground up. The Halo CE engine was stripped down and rebuilt for Halo 2 and so on. It’s not like they’re still running it on the same capacity as the CE one. It’s been improved and optimized with each installation.
I don’t remember hearing about what kind of engine we’re getting for the next game but I wouldn’t be surprised either way, know what I mean?

That’s cool. Programming the tools that the developers will use to make the game is what my brother wants to do. Unfortunately though, he doesn’t live in an area with any demand for that.

I’m confused. How can the former “principal engine programmer of Halo 4” not have “work[ed] on the engine for Halo 4?”

Perhaps she worked on the tools that the engine programmers used. Who knows? Occupational titles, especially in the IT industry, can be pretty nondescript.
One step closer to it being confirmed as Halo 5.
We are all pretty positive that the upcoming game will be Halo 5, but I have to admit I am going to laugh my -Yoink- off if its not. all the hype about another MC game and for it then to turn out not to be would be hysterical.

I’m pretty sure Havok is just a physics and animations engine.

Wouldn’t surprise me if it was a spin-off considering this forum is simple called Halo Xbox One instead of Halo 5. Maybe they just made a teaser with Chief in it so we know it a Halo related title. Maybe they didn’t give us the title like they did with ODST and Reach because we knew about them from lore but what they’re working is brand new to lore and doing something as simple as releasing the title of the game would spoil what it would be about.

Halo reach and ODST didnt have chief in their teasers and they didnt have chief in them.
