So I played halo 3 Last Nite

And guess what,

  1. I talked with more people in 3 games than I have in a month of Reach
  2. Had more fun in 3 games than I have in a month of Reach.
  3. Realized how much better the competitive side of Halo 3 is, than Reach.

So my question for Reach fans is;

  1. How can you play this game when the competitive aspect is garbage?
  2. Is the only reason people are still on this game because its the newer title?
  3. If not, is it because of the game breaking armor abilities, the bloom to save casual butts everywhere, or because you simply like the graphics and are a zombie to actual gameplay?

Please, Im curious

EDIT
I feel like I should add a couple points of information to this post.

  1. Yes, I’m stirring up controversy because I myself cannot understand how competitive players can play Halo: Reach. Its competitive is mediocre at best.

  2. If your a casual player, good for you. I wish I could run around mindlessly with no-shield shotguns but Im motivated to win. I like to finish first (and those who question my real life goals… guess what, Im a Commerce major and let me tell you something, it pays to finish first peeps , just ask your welfare parents :stuck_out_tongue:

  3. If your going to post ‘New Kidd, I just like to have fun’… dont bother. This post is not asking casual players (my god!), its asking competitive players that play Reach. I don’t care how you justify your mindless social antics. I really don’t. By all means, play a random’d-to-death game, but competitive players, I’m interested what comes out of your mouth

I like the game better, I could list the reasons but it would be a waste of time. Now that we got that out of the way, I have two questions for you.

Now that you know Halo 3 is a better fit for you, is this the last time you are going to waste my time and yours on a forum for Reach?

If I check back on you in a few days, Im not going to find that you have lowered yourself to playing Reach despite being able to play Halo 3, which for you is vastly superior.

Welcome to Waypoint by the way, just to let you know, there is a Halo 3 section here, but hardly anyone uses it.

  1. I don’t play Halo like a die hard MLG player. I play it because I enjoy the game. Not everything has to be about competition.

  2. Again, I still play the game because it’s fun. I still play Halo 3 occasionally, so the whole ‘newer title’ argument is redundant.

  3. See the above 2 answers.

Hey, I tried Halo 3 the other month for comparison.

Campaign: Hated the lack of health. I was already annoyed that they took it out for Halo2 and left it out for Halo3, but after Reach and Anniversary it felt like a huge step back.

Multiplayer: Searched for like, 3 hours in various gametypes. Couldn’t get into a single game.

I’ve played H3 recently and it was a lagfest with, get this…freakin’ deranking -Yoinks!-! Can you believe idiots are STILL doing this on a nearly dead game?

As much as I liked H3 the community got all messed up and totally ruined it.

> As much as I liked H3 the community got all messed up and totally ruined it.

Just like they tried to do to Reach, and will no doubt try to do it in Halo 4 too.

  1. I don’t play to win I play to have fun. What’s the point of stressing to win every game its’ not going to do anything for you. Oh you won a bunch of matches in a video game. Big deal. You going to put it on your resume? Fun is the only reason anyone should play a game for. Unless money is involved of course.

  2. I play both Halo 3 and Reach. I like both games. I have a good time on both games. I can’t really give a good answer as to which is better because I like both pretty much equally.

  3. You should stop centering questions around your opinions. Not everyone has the same thoughts as you. I like Reach because I have a good time playing it. Bloom isn’t a big deal to me. I also happen to like armor abilities. It adds interesting elements to the gameplay so it’s not just a rehash of Halo 3.

Same, my roommate and I tried playing H3 for reliving the old days, but after 30 minutes of searching we find a game, but get kicked back to the lobby.
This continued for 1 hour, so I said screw it, my quit ban has been up for awhile now, back to Reach we went.

lol

It’s easier to find games in Reach.

Just ignore these kids OP, they’re all terribad, that’s why they play Reach.

Been playing Halo 3 again myself, it’s the most fun I’ve had on an Xbox in ages.

I am a bit splited on this on…I think that Reach has better over all multiplayer handsdown, but Halo 3 has nostaliga that I haven’t and probably won’t experince in Reach or any future game.

to sum it up: I like Halo 3’s multiplayer more but I think that Halo Reach’s multiplayer is better

"Their opinion is different to mine, therefore they are bad. MY LOGIC IS FLAWLESS!

you must be searching in the imaginary playlist then.

I was able to find quick and easy matches in BTB, Social Slayer, Team Slayer, and even MLG.

>

funny because on reach I have fun playing ranked in the arena
chat it up with guys in BTB and zombies
and I love the competitive, predictable, fast paced gameplay of TU.

I LOOOOOOOVEEEEEE HALO 3, that being said, when I get on:
no one speaks english or has a mic
the games servers are reduced to lag ridden, post apocalyptic ghost towns.
and dont even think about ranked, you WONT find a game.

but I still get on H3 pretty frequently for some BTB luls or for some campaign/custom action.

> 1) How can you play this game when the competitive aspect is garbage?

Not everybody plays games to be MLG PRO XXSUPERCERALXXPR0SH07XX. Some people actually play games for fun. Shocking concept, isn’t it?

> 2) Is the only reason people are still on this game because its the newer title?

See above response.

Oh, hi there Title Update! Didn’t see you there!

Obvious troll is obvious. Get out.

@^: I dont get all this “H3 is competitive, some people play reach for fun” nonsense.

H3 in its PRIME had only one competitive advantage on reach: The integration of 1-50.
If halo 3’s 1-50 was like reach’s arena in the sense that you dont need it to rank up and Its not displayed on your nameplate, 1-50 would have been as shallowly populated as the arena was during Pre-TU/Pre-JPremoval.

HR is LOADS more competitive than halo 3, spread is a blight on gaming and under certain circumstances, certainly every “post apocalyptic halo 3 mexican host” the game literally goes to who lives the farthest away and pulled host.

Maybe if halo 3’-Yoink!- detection wasnt so bad I could give it some credit, but compared to reach’s arena/TU playlist 85% bloom, and MLG and ZB’s 0%. Halo 3 doesnt hold a candle to the competitive aspect that is reach.

At least not anymore, you know, maybe if you could find a game in ranked H3 I wouldnt rag on it so hard.

On Reach i hate the fact that the games are always on the same map. 8 out of 10 times its a characterless forge created map, and there are only a few pre-produced maps in Reach that are good. On H3 there where so manny great maps with character in them, like: Construct, Guardian, The pit, Narrows, But both games have their good and bad things. Ps: The maps on reach seem to be way bigger.

Yeah, I’d be playing Halo 3 right now if it wasn’t being run by full parties and foreign host in the playlists with like 20 people in it

I haven’t played Reach in awhile and I just started playing Halo 3 again.

I’ve had absolutely no problems finding matches. You do come across derankers and what not but so far I haven’t come across many. I actually haven’t had any laggy games either.

I like H3 a lot better than Reach but I might play Reach again soon.
